So what? King Kong's been dead since 1933, but everyone knows who he is. What music did he ever write?
- jmatchett383

Uh... King Kong was never alive.

Then I went on to have to explain the importance of, and the influence the doors/ jim Morrison left behind. He looked at me with a dull expression the whole time. I did one of these " "

Sorry but I'd have tuned out your old ass, too, when you went blathering on about that.

I've had a few old man moments.

Kids kicking my pile of leaves, scared the poop out of them screaming from my porch.

Kid riding his 4-wheeler up and down his driveway 2 doors down when we had snow at 4:30 AM on a work day waking me up. Yelled at him, in my robe, and then he got off and I realized he was well over 6" tall and ended with, "So, um, don't do it again," and went back inside.

There was one other one, but it escapes me.

If a poll was taken of High School seniors, I'd be surprised if 15% of them knew who Jim Morrison was. Morrison has been dead for close to 45 years. Some High School kids parents weren't born yet.
- PLindbergh31

I'll give you that since Morrison has been dead for so long, but he was so influential... maybe it's just cuz I 'm a musician. Idk. He (sister's bf) also barely able to identify these following.

-eddie vedder
-kurt cobain
-bono
-bob Dylan
- David Lee Roth

All those he was like "uhhh I've heard of him. Yeah I think I've heard of him. Oh yeah I recognize that name. "

The only musician last night that J.M. had some significant influence on that he could clearly recognize was Dave Grohl. And that's only cuz dave grohl is like the only modern day well known rock star.

Now THAT is some quality old man talk.

I try lol my girlfriend always says I'm an old man at heart, and that I should've been born in the 60's. If only.

Not to be totally rude, but how long have you known him? If it was one of the first times, he probably felt pretty awkward. Any chance he was just thinking, "Man, when will this guy shut up and leave us alone so we can start making out?"

I always think about that.. If I could go back in time to one point, I think it would be the 50's/60's. The cars, the style, the music, the way of life.. I just really love the time period.

My most memorable and probably favorite was Primeau's overtime goal against Pittsburgh. I had a 104 fever and the chills, shivering under 2 blankets. And yet 5 OT's and I'm in it until the end. And despite the cough and the fever, I jumped off the couch and danced like a 10 year old.

Needless to say, I missed work the next day

another beauty too, but that dagger against the devils means more to me. perhaps because i was in the building to see it. my rage for that franchise was off the charts at that time. i've never had it for the penguins.

I'm only 31, so I don't have any memories of the Flyers before the 92/93 season. But, for me, as much as I loved the 07/08, 09/10 and 11/12 teams, the 03/04 team was my favorite. A healthy Desjardins or Jonsson and they win the Cup.

By the way, who were the announcers for ABC? it sounds like Steve Levy and Darren Pang.

- jmatchett383

that's exactly who was doing the broadcast.

03/04 team is my 2nd favorite. love that group. agreed if they were healthy on the back end they win it all. it will infuriate me for the rest of my life.

I'm not disagreeing with you on Morrison. It's just these days kids are wrapped up with social media, video games, and a bunch of other crap. The 1970's might as well be the stone age.

Young people know nothing about music!!!!! I listened to the radio and heard a bad song. All young people listen to that exact song over and over again. Music is dead!!!

I'm 28. I know Lou Reed as well as I know Joy Division as well as I know The Pixies and Radiohead and The Knife.

Old guys, please don't bother looking up the latter. Your heads will explode.
