Incorrect. The key is college coaches and Russian Dmen. - jstross
Ha! I wouldn't be surprised if this Russian dman is one of their top 4 this year. |

The key in today's NHL is to collect as many defensemen who skate in quicksand, and handle the puck like a grenade. That's the blueprint. - PLindbergh31
We have 3 offensive lines that match that description , this team is set.

You're right, I did. Simmonds is a better player than JVR is in my opinion. You're right, the trade market for defenseman is a struggle. - MJL
I'm probably creating a heated debate with you by saying this and I assure you that this isn't the case. JvR is my mind is a waaaay better play than Simmonds and I love Wayne Simmonds.
JvR for the Toronto Maple Leafs is being used like Rick Nash for the Rangers.
-Good Hands (Shooting and Passing)
-Good Skater
-Can play anywhere on the Power Play, not just in the crease
-Kills Penalties
-Lights out in the Shootout.
The only edge I see that Simmonds has is toughness, gritt and by far the more physical player. |

Because that is what I have ever said... and the best ever is saved for Couturier.
You asked a question, I looked up the answer because I wasn't sure. - opeth_pa
theyre both very good players but considering how the markst for dmen is, and the team needs, they are not untouchable. |

if it means the Flyers picked up a couple of 2 or 3's in the draft I'm OK with moving on! |

OK. I gotta ask:
Do you really think you can trade one Schenn and not the other?
Yes, they are professionals. Yes, in theory, you SHOULD be able to.
But in reality...you traded somebody's brother! Can they really move one Schenn and not the other? - AllInForFlyers
They were on different junior teams. Theyre adults now. They'll be fine |

youre insistence on not trading for yandle is quite puzzling too i might add... you champion the cause of much lesser blueliners. - JoeRussomanno
Trading for yandle makes no sense. We have our yandle it's MDZ. We have another yandle coming soon it's ghost. |

From what I saw, the Rags need to ask some hard questions about Dan Girardi, but WTF do I know |

Top end skill, edge probably goes to JvR. Both are streaky-as are a lot of good offensive players. Intangibles definitely swing to Simmonds, though.
Overall I'd lean to JvR, maybe not a huge difference, but enough of one that I'm comfortable in choosing.
That's not a knock on Simmonds, BTW. I think JvR has elite level skills if he ever puts it all together.

The bit of the game I did watch, Girardi struggled. But with all the family goings on, I was limited in my watching. |

He struggled quite a bit tonight -- Tampa's speed was really hard on him
Not saying that wouldn't happen to Yandle, or anyone else -- it's not like Tampa sucks, you know? But Girardi was definitely caught out there enough that it was noticeable |

Yeah, and to be fair, McDonagh had a rough night, too. Kind of hard when your top pair both turn in subpar games |

malkin, without a doubt.
he would be absolutely perfect for him. big. can shoot. go to the net. young. cost efficient.
i think he would be high 30s consistently with malkin.
crosby/hornqvist
malkin/jvr.
yes please |
