Sorry it's off-topic, but I really do hope that Babcock goes to Buffalo. I loved the fact that they missed on McDavid after purposefully constructing a team to lose (because apparently the word "tank" is a poop storm waiting to happen), but as a franchise, this would be a great consolation prize, along with Eichel. Also, with a very raw team, I'd love to see if he's the great coach that everyone thinks he is, or if he just happened to inherit a very well-oiled machine when he took over as Red Wings' coach. - jmatchett383

Hakstol sucks and is a Russian Agent. Patrick Maroon would have us in the conference finals.

I'd like to see a d core of Streit, Del Zotto, the Russian, Schultz, Gudas, and L. Schenn. Grossmann and MacDonald as the odd men out. - PLindbergh31

I don't think Babcock is a miracle worker, which Toronto needs but I do think he's game changer for a good team, which Toronto is not. If Toronto didn't give up on Burke the way they did, the Leafs might have a reasonable roster to contend for the playoffs, which they do not. I like Babcock but I don't think he's going to do anything for the Leafs. |

So far Hextall has hired Hakstol, and signed Medvedev. Hextall is not having a good off season. What other bad moves can he make?

He has a chore on his hands to turn that team around, they have talent, if anyone can do it, he can. Some players may not like what they're asked to do though. I'll be interested to see if there are any clashes in hierarchy.

I don't think people realize the 11 games played this season was his chance. That's getting a look at a player. What you really mean is, hand him a roster spot. |

He deserves a chance is what I said. He should be in the top 7 . Did he play well while he was here ?Yes. Was he an all star in the AHL.?Yes...
The guy deserves a chance. IMO he brings just as much or more value than Schenn at a fraction of the cost |

I know what you said but Brandon Manning playing 11 NHL games this season was his chance. It doesn't matter what he's done at lower ranks, what he does come training camp is how a player earns a spot. We were saying the same things about Oliver Lauriden two years ago. Even Danny Syvret was an AHL All-Star. |

Saying he deserves a chance, and he should be in the top 7 is a contradiction. I agree that he should be given a chance in camp, but he should not be handed a spot on the roster. When Manning plays a full NHL season, maybe then he'll show that he brings just as much or more value than Schenn does. |

About UmBurger? - Landsbergfan
Can't help but laugh at anyone still complaining about the Umberger deal. It should be judged in years 4 and 5 by what Hartnell is producing against what we spend the cap space on.
On principle we were always getting the worse player in the short run. |

Schenn has played 7 seasons in the NHL. He has proven one thing. He is a VERY inconsistent hockey player and at 3.5 M that is not value.
If Manning shows up to camp and plays like he did last year then he deserves to be on this team. I wouldn't worry about the loss of Schenn if tHey choose to trade him.
If Manning is horrible in camp then yes.. Send him down.
I just want Manning to get a solid chance as he deserves it

Manning had always looked at the very least capable of holding his own over the multiple callups he's had. IMO there's no reason luke schenn should be higher on the depth chart than manning |

Schenn is inconsistent, but yet he's been in the NHL for 7 years, and has had some solid NHL seasons. Manning who's played less then 20 NHL games is anointed as being a better player. Sounds familiar. Just insert a different name, such as Syvret, Lauridsen, Akeson. All were handed a spot on the team based on a small sample of games.
I'm all for Manning getting a shot at it, but my guess is that if Schenn and Manning are competing for a spot, I would give Schenn the edge. If Manning earns a spot, which means he's better than or at least close enough to where the cap value tips the scale then I'm all for it. It would be great for a low priced player to provide some value to the Flyers. I'm not at all against trading Schenn in the right deal, but not looking to give him away. It will all play out, they just added another player to the mix. We'll see what happens around the draft.
