Yeah but they'd probably have to raise the price to their season ticket holder to do it and that would be a PR disaster.

He can say what he wants but at the end of the day everything points to him simply chasing the money.

Good for Babcock getting that kind of cash but I guess hes just all about those dollars. If you were going to lose the first couple years Id much rather go to Buffalo and have those prospects coming.

I cant wait to hear, upon hiring their new coach, how disappointed Buffalo is to not have gotten Babcock.

The thing to me, with Edmonton he has poop load of talent awaiting him. A new GM, and the city/area itself is gorgeous if he isn't a pansy who cant handle a bit of snow.

With Buffalo he also has a committed owner and better young talent than Toronto.

With San Jose or St. Louis you have teams that with the right tweaks can be right up there with the elite of the NHL.

He chooses the pressure cooker and poop-show that is Toronto. Money baby.

So, I am guessing that
1. Vinny has agreed to terminate which frees up some money
2. one of Luke or Grossman is traded or they can't agree with MDZ
or
3. Streit is being traded

I didn't think Streit was being moved, but with that cat getting two years, somebody I didn't necessarily think was getting moved should get some movers on standby

At the end of the day it wouldn't be a bad idea. A deal like that takes a lot of smaller market teams out of the game.

I heard someone say the Bettman was quietly calling owners, in particular the cash strapped/low revenue teams to tell them not to give Babcock the big money....and then scream about being poor and needing a league bailout

Conclusive proof Ron Hextall is clearly in charge. They signed a Russian player.

I agree, just thought maybe he'd be an effective 3rd pair dman for a cheap cap hit. With Gudas and Schenn I feel you can move Grossmann and the PK would probably not take a hit.

Moving Streit would be to gather more assets and get the 5M+ in cap. I have no issue with Streit staying. He had a very good offensive year. I think MDZ could probably be similar on the PP (not as good, but for the cost savings right in line).

- tjp2033

To this point of his career, Del Zotto has been an average PP defenseman, while Striet is one of the best in the league.
