I can understand the frustration and anger that comes from losing s deal they thought they had in place, but time for a very solid signing. I don't understand why Murray is being seen as a bad guy or control freak- they had a deal and Babcock tried to renegotiate it. That's a fair thing for him to do, but it's also wise to say - for many reasons - were not gonna give you more than you already agreed was a deal. Thatmight be OK after 3 or 4 years, not on day 2
- Der Kaiser

Whoa, whoa, whoa....did that actually happen? Or did Babcock tell him he liked the deal but wanted to explore some other options before committing? I have a feeling some people have grabbed a bullpoop twist to this tale and ran with it for a good story.

It's not me you like, it's my sexy Avatar.i just try to be realistic. Here's what I know:

Atheletes/coaches/ Managers say one thing to the media and do the opposite all the time.
Athletes/Players/Coaches agents use leverage at all times while negotiating a deal

Media personalities sell stories. The Truth is boring. A slight sensationalistic spin and now it's juicy !

Fans run with the juicy sensationalistic story and treat it like the gospel. Evidence? Who needs it? I saw it on Twitter!!!!

This thread has a few poster who have proven to have inside info, and that's the story they told as it was unfolding, before media took it public.

I don't doubt the story....but is TM so dumb to think that without Babcocks signature that they actually had a deal? I'm sure they worked out a good contract that both sides were happy with, but obviously Babcock wanted time for something otherwise he would have signed.

There are things that men of principal do and don't do in business - with or without a signature.

So what now ??

In all honesty I was feeling a bit awkward as a Sabre fan when it leaked that Peg's was going to give him stupid money. The whole "you can't buy a Stanley Cup dumbass" mentality all the haters have been piling on Buffalo lately. So, it's a bit of a relief that he's NOT coaching here. Don't get me wrong, I wanted him here.

But now what ?

If I'm TMGM I give the Leafs a little twist of the knife and hire Boucher. He would have been high on my short list of very qualified candidates.

Boucher in Buffalo would only heighten the rivalry even more and I'd like that !

I think I'm going to take a different spin on this whole situation. I'm a little burned by the bcock, but it's not anywhere close to crippling. Crippling would be losing the McEichel derby, especially to those greasy ass leafs. But yes, it's absolutely time to move on. I think what I'm feeling now is I was hyping myself up for a cool weekend vacation and all the sudden it got canceled five minutes before I left. Now there's nothing atm to look forward to and I'm a bit drained. So, I hope some solid rumors come out in the next day or two about who the next interview will be. We need something to run with again, because if we're not hunting down a coach, we're (frank)ing bored.

This would be a bit more likely than getting Blashill, I guess.

You would have to assume he's very loyal to their organization.

I wonder if he's on TM's radar. Can he even be approached by another team? I don't know how things work with him still being in the minors. A contract is a contract.

Men of priciple? In the NHL? I thought Babs made his intentions clear that he was meeting with all other teams...did he go as far as to promise the Sabres?

The Sabres need to shut their mouth and suck it up.

They are coming off as sour grapes.

By all accounts, they were convinced they had a deal in place.
