they do make nice affordable red suede soles with the sole i like though.

They're leather. Dog leather, probably, but still.

And what I meant was that I tend to ruin them quickly regardless of what they are.

EDIT except these.

Had a pair of these for hiking/camping and they lasted me a solid two and a half years.

My Rockys and alphas are over 5yrs old . still look like new . 150 each they should last awhile . Last pairs made it to 10yrs.
