Schroeder never had the top end speed of Johnson or the finishing ability. Also had more impressive numbers before he was a pro. I was actually pretty disappointed when I saw Schroeder here, I was expecting a more explosive skater and a better shot from him. - Nucker101
bullpoop you defended the pick if my memory serves me, I believe you said he was ranked that high so it was a BPA pick. I hated it!!!
Point being, just because one or two teams get lucky like Tampa did with Johnson doesn't mean it's an easy thing to do...because it isn't.
Edit: I do agree that they should take some chances on skilled guys in the late rounds if there are any left. Benning has had one draft though, let's see how he does with a much larger sample size.

Mackenzie (frank)ing Stewart eh... I see Benning is battening down the hatches for a long term tank. He's shrewder than I thought. Looks like we've got ten years of top picks on the way

Too bad he didn't do something illegal , he could have seeker employment then in the NFL - VANTEL
And get a huge multimillion dollar contract AND be the face of the franchise for the next 15 years... (Winston I'm looking at you).
What's funny is that supposedly every team have like several private detective agencies among other things to go over players they want to draft with a fine tooth comb yet you still get people like Aaron Hernandez, the guy who shot his family and then himself in the parking lot of the Rams and the Dallas Cowboy who drove drunk and killed his friend on the practice roster. I think I read somewhere that the NFL has more players who have been in trouble with the law at some point than any other sport (that's taking into account that the NFL employs a lot more players than every other league)

I fully admit I loved it, that was back when I didn't have a mind of my own and followed McKenzie's list

I think what you should differentiate is that this company is not private, it's a public company owned by the government of Ontario. Different set of rules.
