Shame on Benning for tring to find pro spots for every player he drafts, he should let them rot like his ancestors.
It sounds like you are a big fan of the draft side, the develop side not so much. - VANTEL

A slightly better pile of manure is still better. That seems to elude you.
One of the most embarrassing things about this year was having Dorsett having to fight almost all of Canucks battles. One of the smallest guys goes in fearlessly with no back up.
The fact that the ref had to go ask Hamhuis to go help him as a third man in is Fuken embarrassing in the line of team toughness. Benning in one of his first offseason moves addresses this and media and the public are just screaming.
Answer me this, how many live games have you seen Stewart play, and how many live games do you think Benning and his scouts have seen him play. I will trust their judgement |

The fact that one NHL scout was shocked that he was drafted and a guy at HF who has seen him play many games said the same raises some eyebrows. He even got a sarcastic vote for best drafted WHL prospect. That means there's scouts laughing at the Canucks for this. |

One NHL scout wow. Ron Delorme is a scout too and he knows Sh1t .
HF guy wow, is that an upgrade of Ek or a downgrade ?
Thank you for bringing forward those excellent credentials. I heard Blake Price mention something about it also, therefore it must be a bust.
How many Canuck ( behind closed doors) meetings have all these people attended?
What is the overall forecast that they and JB came up with?
When Benning came in you knew he was a rink rat and a scout . He does things off the board and everyone was excited. Even though he filled holes , made both clubs better , drafted well , he still is getting Flamed.
Just hilarious
BTW you didn't answer me how many live games have you seen Stewart play? Did he play forward those games or D? |

Okay, we'll see how this plays out. I've read enough on him from people who have seen him play and also am well aware of the fact that players with his point production in juniors have like a 1% chance to even play a NHL game, that's even lower than the average 7th rounder.

Too much ado about nothing.
I will remind you again we are talking about a 7 th rounder with size and toughness. He was scouted as a Dman late rounds , our GM sees potential as a tough forward on one of his teams. Too much ink for someone who may or may not work out.
Follow your own advice. Swing for the fences with late picks and most importantly

I bet they just throw him in to a playoff series next season and hope he's our Ferland.

Even if he is the 13 th forward on the Comets it is still better than any 7 th rounder of recent years |

I think you misunderstand the concept of swinging for the fences. Size and toughness are a dime a dozen in lower leagues and even if they make it to the big league they are generally relegated to riding the pine.
I would consider drafting high skill players who are overage, undersized, injured during draft year, russian etc as swinging for the fences. If you are going to take a flyer on a guy, would you rather the ceiling be Tom Sestitio (who by the way had way better stats in junior compared to stewart) or Pavol Datsyuk?
Neither are likely to materialize out of a 7th round pick but if one does turn out at least you get a impactful player.
Some notable 7th round pics in recent history.
Halak
Moulsen
Glass
Streit
Hansen
Honrqvist
Stralman
kostitsyn
Dorsett
Gunnarson
Demers
Jordan Nolan
Frekrik Andersson
If we can agree that players picked that late are a total crap-shoot, would you prefer taking that chance on acquiring Nolan or Streit?

Do you think there is a better chance of finding a 4 th line energy player in the 7 th round or a Datsyuk?
Nolan has 2 rings Streit how many?

The idea is to pick for skill in the early rounds where most of the players picked in the first to third rounds (depending on how good the draft class is) will more than likely pan out and meet their potential. In the later rounds (fourth and beyond) you're taking flyers on guys, most of whom aren't exactly well known or well scouted. I posted this earlier, skills can be taught, you can't teach heart, character and killer instinct. Let's not forget that Tanev AND Burrows were never drafted and yet they somehow became huge parts of the Canucks. If a player has the drive, they can overcome their deficiencies and end up being NHL regulars, if not big contributors.

Datsyuk is clearly the top end of the spectrum, but as you can see from the list I posted there are only a few energy players. I think generally you have the same chance getting a 4th or a 2nd line player in the 7th round which is to say very little chance.
If you are going to get lucky and win on a lottery ticket would you rather win a $5 or $100 dollar prize?

Nothing nothing, we know he works at a lumber yard and has a penchant for wood. Merely suggesting he would need to put in long labourous hours off handling wood to upgrade to prime rib |
