I'll take the guy who's smarter rather than who's more honest or humble. But then I've had a similar argument about players with some people here, I'll take a team with 20 a$$holes and d-bags that can win me a cup over 20 guys who are great people but won't come close to winning a cup. - Nucker101
His strength is assessing talent, he needs time to figure things out. He also has a mandate of making the postseason. 2 Birds with one stone, it's not easy. We also don't know how intelligent he really is yet? |

I agree, I'm more pissed at Aquilini than anything. You have to have some amazing scouting and asset management to somehow build up your prospect pool and make the playoffs every year. |

Plus I believe he lives in B.C. so this was the job he strongly preferred. He's already set for life now from his days as an agent and as a GM. - Nucker101

I got a feeling Aquaman is not a patient man which means trouble for a rebuilding team. |

Doesn't the coach have a say on who is captain considering the working relationship between coach and captain? |

If they trade Lack, which I think they should, I believe Markstrom will become a good goaltender at the NHL level if he's given the time and patience they've afforded Lack to become a better player. |

10-6 are pretty weak. He was hit and miss with UFA's but he had plenty of decent one's: Hamhuis, Demitra, Samuelsson, Santorelli, Richardson so that's pretty good if that makes his top 5 of misses. |

Do you have a man crush on Gillis? - VanHockeyGuy
I don't think he does, he is looking at it pretty realistically. Gillis did pretty well in many deals and acquisitions. In the end the bad out weighed the good. |

Only worry I have about Markstrom is that he's a mental midget, the talent is definitely there.
I want Miller gone but it won't happen. |

Don't forget the cap space they're saving. Sometimes it's just best to cut your loses and move on. Investing 101 for beginners. |

Mental midget? He's a carefree spirit just like Lack, although I think he's grown up over the past year, which he needed to, and he realizes he needs to be more of a complete player and person to make the NHL a reality for him. |

Maybe if we eat some salary. Again. |

So if he was so good at deals and acquisitions, what was he bad at? - VanHockeyGuy
There was good and bad to every aspect of what he did for this team. To overlook the good is just wrong as well the bad. In the end the bad was too much to overlook. |

Lack is a huge trade piece and I like Miller in net. That said smart money is on Miller to SanJose and Lack getting a deal done here. |

The Luongo deal will essentially be for an AHL Goaltender, albeit a good one, and probably a 5th or 6th round pick for Matthias (or zip). Plus we eat a part of Lou's contract. Gillis couldn't find a better deal? He didn't even broker that one. - VanHockeyGuy
Just having 90% of Lou's contract off the books and that clown out of the dressing room is good enough. |
