I have a horrible confession. Before this morning, I though Spinal tap was a real band
Makes sense why I've never heard one of their songs on the radio. - vancity787
they actually did write some songs for the movie if you can believe and do have an album out - not sure what it's called, though. I guess the Soundtrack to the flick would have all the tunes as well. I just loved 'Big Bottom' - with the three bases playing at once lol but also liked the other tunes 'Sex Farm' and "Tonight I'm Gonna Rock Ya".
That's what makes this movie such genius - sometimes you could actually think this was in fact a real biography on a band called Spinal Tap, and especially since they wrote their own songs for the movie.

This is dating me but I remember Michael McKean who plays David St. Hubbins in Spinal Tap as Lenny in Laverne & Shirley.
He's an excellent musician. Wrote most of the songs that appear in his movies (Spinal Tap and Mighty Wind).
sheer brilliance - I was just checking out some of their stuff on Youtube and I would say that their songs are on par or even better than a lot of the generic hard-rock bands of the 80's, which just shows you the talent level involved.

Michael McKean and Christopher Guest were nominated for an Academy Award for best song (A Kiss at the End of the Rainbow) and won a Grammy for A Mighty Wind.

Holy poop the bipolars are in full effect this Tuesday......the amount of whining over signing a 7th round pick is unprecedented. Clearly it's a depth move for the ECHL and I'm sure JB has plenty up his sleeve this offseason.....

It's just Nucker, he hasn't had his Midol today (not to mention the Maalox, Ritalin, Xanax and Viagra cocktail he's supposed to take)

Nobody can b!tch just yet. He made some moves last year that didnt work out. But its his first year on the job and his scouting abilities are supposed to be top notch.
No chance in hell Ill commend him for what he done so far although I think its been better than alot of the turds in here do.
Too small a sample size for a new GM
if we havent aquired good young talent and ridded ourselves of a few bad contracts in a couple years then I'll get hasty.

But now? far too soon. - vancity787
No GM ever is perfect, and not every player is going to fit or work out. No matter how well you scout and/or draft, not every player is going to pan out. I completely agree, as long as he's slowly moving from Sedins et. al to a new core, I'm fine. I've said this before, he needs 3-4 years before all the changes he wants to make roster-wise will bear fruit or not. As long as TL and JB have a plan and stick to it, that's all I want. I just want to see some sort of improvement year-to-year and I think if most Canuck fans are honest with themselves, that's all they want as well.

Wasting an NHL contract spot on an ECHL'er is (frank)ing retarded.

That must have been years ago because he would be fired immediately now a days.
"This organization needs to draft better than other teams in our division" - Jim Benning
Calgary has 6 picks in first 3 rounds
Vancouver has 1
Easier said than done eh Jimmy - classic321
Are they not allowed to acquire more picks now? When did they change the rules? Those picks didn't disappear, they were spent on players management obviously felt would help the club. Baertschi is a very good 22 year old player with outstanding skill. Lord knows we gave up on a prospect way too early in Cam Neely, how'd that turn out for the Bruins? Hopefully it works in our favor this time.
In 11 months Benning has added an extra 1st round pick, a 2nd round pick and a third round pick to the organization. Three picks. He spent those picks on Jared McCann, Linden Vey & Derek Dorsett...they all had good to decent years.
He's used three future picks on Andrey Pedan (2016 3rd), Sven Baertschi (2015 2nd) and a 2015 3rd round pick from the Kesler trade.
So he's even on the picks gained and lost, I'd expect he'll be recapturing a couple for this years draft thru trades.
For the record - I'm not a Benning apologist, I just think it's way too early to condemn a guy who's been on the job less than a year, not to mention he's taken over a situation from previous managements that left the organization with an aging core and a complete void in the prospect department.
Outside of the past two drafts we have very little, if any, size, toughness or skill...let the man perform his duties for a few years.
SOME of what he's done so far is concerning to me, but I'm a patient man, having kids Nuckers age will do that to you

I saw Spinal Tap play Lolapoolooza at Thunderbird Stadium.
