Hextall’s deal is looking more and more like one of the better moves made at the trade deadline as Chicago continue to march through teams on their way to a potential run at the Stanley Cup. That’s because Hextall had the foresight to trade Timonen for a 2nd round pick and conditional draft pick,a conditional pick that improves as Chicago advances throughout the post season.

As it stands right now the Flyers are looking at a 2nd round draft choice and a 3rd round draft choice in exchange for the veteran defenseman, something many would already consider to be a very good deal. However if Chicago were to make it past the winner of the Anaheim/Calgary series, that 3rd round pick would once again be upgraded to a 2nd round draft choice.

Flyers fans may want to start cheering the Blackhawks on at least for now."
