Look at the playoffs....bo was way more effective than sven. I think that speaks pretty loud. But sven hasnt spent much time with the team either

I think WD will give Sven a longer leash because he has a few years on Bo and has paid his dues in the AHL. I also think that if Benning all but forces Sven on the roster he will recognize that he isn't effective in a bottom 6 role

That may have been a part of it. But from what I read, this was an on-going thing and Pronger's wife did not like being in Edmonton from the get go. Unfortunately that's the reality that faces the Oilers, so they need to ensure they retain the core and make some noise before everyone hits the road once their contracts expire. I know that's a worst case scenario but it's also something that should be addressed sooner than later. Again, it's just an ugly reality that most teams don't need to face but one that Chiarelli now inherits.

I think you're over-estimating the impact that McDavid will have on signings. I think Edmonton is probably a great place to play, as their fans are passionate and they've been subject to a losing team for quite some time now. But Edmonton the city is not exactly a thriving metropolis and players with families are definitely going to be taking that into consideration.

McDavid will certainly help with respect to the on-ice product; however, I just don't think he'll have an impact as to luring players to sign with the Oil.

I would give him away for free. Let someone else try 3 Rd line LW. As I pointed out last night he doesn't bring creativity , toughness , scoring touch fights.

I just don't want to see a quality role player go for nothing because he doesn't fight. He costs 2 million dollars, and offers tremendous value.

How many times do you need to be told that it's not a bottom 6 issue with this team? Acquire the proper top 6 and slide people down, it really is that simple.
