People in Vancouver aren't stupid, they won't support this team for much longer if they keep Higgins, Burrows, Bieksa etc on the team, regardless of what BS slogan they put out there. Vancouver will support losing with youth, to a certain extent, but they won't support the same old poop if they keep putting it out there.

I have 0 problems with Burrows. He aint what he was but is still a very serviceable player IMHO

Can Sven or ? take his spot? If yes, ask him for a list.

I defended Bieksa for like two thirds of the season. But be the end of the year I couldnt do it anymore.

Get his ass off the team.

Higgins can still play hockey but for what were paying him he not earning his money.
Guys at a point in his career where simply needs to be a fourth liner and pk specialist.

He serves no other role.

McCann turns 19 this month I think and Virtanen turns 19 end of August...they'll both be back in junior next year.
- LeftCoaster

I think Virtanen will get a chance to make the team if they're able to move a vet or two up front out. I bet he at least gets a couple of regular season games to start the season. Benning will push it on WD like he did with Bo. But Horvat was more NHL-ready so we'll see what happens.

Benning usually mentions Virtanen first whenever someone asks if more youth will be brought up or mentions how Calgary's youth won them the series and if the Canucks should try to do the same.

As the team stands today, they have nothing to sell aside from hope.

They don't even have hope IMO. You put the same players out there and they're gonna get their ass's handed to them again. As constructed, they can't win squat in the West.

Can they be competitive, sure, but they need to get younger, bigger and faster.

And it's a hard sell.

The casual fans will say that the core is still mostly the same and they they always get bounce din round 1.

The hardcore fans like us realize that this team won't be contending for awhile since they don't exactly have a ton of high-end prospects and the core keeps getting older and older.

The "change is coming" BS bought them one year and the team actually played better than most us thought but losing to arguably one of the weakest and most inexperienced playoff teams in round 1 basically cancelled that out.

Good for you, not many are until they see something. I would be more inclined to purchase tickets when my team just drafted Connor McDavid than 23rd overall. Or a team that played youth, entertained their fans and fought a great battle in the 2nd round of the playoffs, and still get to pick higher than 23rd overall like Calgary.

Jake has an NHL body, 6' 1" 208 pounds, but it's his 200 foot game that is no where near what Bo's is, you're right, I guess we'll see how it unfolds.

Personally I love what Virtanen can do, that said, he's so young, there's no rush to get him in there.

I don't think he'll be ready either, WD is going to bench him way too often in third periods of close games like he did with Kassian and Kenins.

Really like to see him have a final healthy season in the WHL, there's no rush.

Yep, he wants to play the vets aside from Vey. He even wanted to send Horvat down I heard. WTF is that?

My only worry is that Benning thinks he's more NHL-ready than he actually is and forces WD to keep him up. Plus you know the casual fans will be all over that and even the more intense fans will be excited to watch him play even if they disagree with the decision. I still don't trust Aquilini in all of this, it's hard to rule out 100% that he has zero influence on some of this team's roster decisions.
