they've been tight games with chances on both sides.

one team has the skill to finish, one doesn't it's pretty simple.

Pacioretty had what? 5-6 shots yesterday as per the stat sheet? do you remember one of them? Only one I remember is when he had the open net and shot it on Bishop

same for Plekanec.

the best chances were Weise, De La Rose, Gallagher.

Was it Eller who had that scramble in front?

i think it's also that if you look at Tampa's goals, they're cleaner chances. Price had no chance on the Johnson goal. Killorn goal was ridiculous coverage. there was no one near him. we're not seeing Montreal get those looks.

because TB gets their chances when they're going toward the net not from the perimeter.

the only guys going to the net for the habs are Weise and Gallagher.

Love both the guys but you give those same chances to scorers like Killorn and Johnson it's in the net. You gave them to Weise and Gallagher and it's a toss up.

that power play at the start of the 3rd was shameful by the way.

control of the puck in their zone. there was no reason for a dangerous play to develop.

anyway my point is more that i don't think 2-3 more minutes of Alex Galchenyuk last night would have made a difference on the scoresheet and i understand why MT was parsing out the ice time the way he was.

Afraid I'll soon get Kostitsyn flashbacks.

Absolutely not! Why would I?
To add to your previous post, true that TB goals were cleaner, that's because real scorers not only have the ability to put the puck in the net, they also have the ability to get open, to create chances. They don't have to crash the net in hope of a good bounce.

kind of embarrassing though, apparently I'm the only person at the office who hadn't predicted this exact result.

I say Habs either win tonight 2-1 or lose terribly...like 4-0 or something.

Weise had a nice feed into the slot there late in the third. gotta bury stuff like that. and that PP... i think it's getting worse.

i think a blowout loss is more likely. i cannot imagine how those players get themselves ready for this game. they've got to be crushed.

Wonder if they will put Gonchar in tonight...

Fresh (old) legs, and at this point, they don't have much to lose.

to which defenseman do you say "your season is over so we can put this old guy who hasn't played"?

Looking at these 12 forwards, they need to remove 2-3 grinders and add 2-3 scorers.
The question is who do they remove and who do they add?
Is Scherbak ready to make the jump?

yeah, Tampa will be looking at closing this one at home, and the mental edge is certainly on their side. We'll see what they are made of, and if they can show resilience like Ottawa did.

is it just me or does anyone else think if the NFL puts one team in charge of the ball they got exactly what they asked for?

i think the NFL is thrilled about the whole thing to be honest. normally the week after the draft is the beginning of their dead season. this keeps them front page news for another week or so. they're sick, sick people running that league. Goodell's probably got his fingers crossed for another Ray Ricing.
