That's the price to pay to get rid of Desharnais as our #1 center!
- Mike Komisarek

They can get rid of DD without losing Pax.
Like I said, even if you have Malkin instead of DD, they still have to find wingers who can put the puck in the net. They need scorers, snippers who won't need 20 scoring chances before burying one.

I don't really see a match.
They will want a similar (in terms of development) defenseman. Montreal's young D aren't there yet.

There's a match to be made with one of MTL's D.

You don't fill one hole (top-line centre) by creating another (top line winger).
- 3M

You do when one is a potential 100 point player and the other a potential 70 point guy.

Even if they were similar in skill you take the Center.

exactly, and you just know that Malkin would start to suck the moment he steps on the ice with the Habs
- stinger67

Meh... Malkin have always been better when Crosby is not playing, when he leads the team. That would be interesting at least, instead of watching these Devils 2.0

Easier to get a good winger than a good center.

The top-line winger hole is a lesser problem to have.

I really wouldn't mind having Desharnais as a 2/2.5 C behind Malkin.

and it's a risk for Mtl too... there' no guarantee Yakupov will be a high-scoring winger. i think if Bergevin makes a move it will be for an established scorer. but it won't be cheap.

I just started to talk with Pens fans about dealing for Malkin.... I offered Pacioretty, Desharnais, Tinordi. It seems it was not enough!

What you get from Desharnais will always be more that what you'd get for him in a trade.

Paciorety might be an interesting piece for Pittsburgh, but a midget centre and a struggling prospect won't cut it.

So hang on a second. If he wants an established scorer, meaning one who is known for his consistent goal scoring prowess, other teams won't just give those away? Really? Amazing stuff.
