Depends on how much talent is in the actual draft class. Every year is different.
The Leafs drafted Fredrik Gaithierin 2013 / 1st round and they immediately projected him as a " 3rd line Centre" at NHL level... But then again... It is the Leafs

- 3flyerkids

Certainly in any draft the available talent pool is a factor, but I think even in the poorest draft classes there are 20 or more players that project as better players than 3rd liners.

I can't help it, the more I watch, the more I like. Freely admit I'm biased.

You don't have to admit it. It's obvious

Well, I originally had Chicago over the Habs in the final. Guessing I'm going to get at least one of the finalists right. Sadly for the Flyers draft, I'm now thinking it will be Chicago over Tampa in the finals. Oh well, picking 7th and 29th is still pretty good.

Of the teams left, the one I couldn't stand to see winning it is the ducks. They're unlikeable.

i have a differing opinion.

But Timonen!

Poor guy with less than 6 minutes last night.

Part of me feels the way you do. However I will at least be happy to see Timonen get his name on the Cup and the Flyers get another 2nd rounder in 2016

As long as they keep dressing him and winning, I'm happy.

My dream scenario. Take Barzal or Provorov at 7, trade the TB, plus other assets(maybe Laughton or another pick) to get to 12-15 and have Zacha drop to us there.

I'd literally dance naked on my lawn if that happened.

- Jsaquella

No need to further comment on the naked dancing.

But I'm not sure I'd go with two centers in your scenario. I really want to get away from this "we can always move a center to wing" mentality. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Mayor made a strong case for Meier. I really like Svechnikov, and Connor is starting to intrigue me. I think there are other pure winger options in the range you are talking about that could be just as compelling as Zacha.

Gee thanks for making it simple for me.

I don't see why both guys couldn't be used 17+ minutes a night in all situations down the line.

- JAKEw1234

Can that trio generate enough offense 5 on 5? That is the big question. Otherwise, hire a very defensive minded coach and reincarnate the Devs teams of the 2000's.

Timonen is the sole reason I'm a Hawks fan.

I hope Kane drops the Cup.

In the preseason I went with Tampa against LA. I might be half right. Its something my brother and I do for every sport every year. You win the bet by accumulating points for how far each team you chose gets. He chose Anaheim/New York Rangers in preseason so he will win this one lol.

In the ESPN bracket challenge I ended up with Anaheim vs Tampa.

Yeah...I wonder if it is because he is hurt, or because the coach just doesn't trust him.

absolutely absurd. the puck was over the line. even it was "in the air" like everyone was screaming, it was by a (frank)ing angstrom. it was a goddamn goal. i'm just glad calgary won it in the end.

Ditto, but it's just another example of NHL shortcomings. Can't even chalk that up to the on-ice officials making a split-second decision in real time. The video review system was set up for things like this. How they got that so very wrong is embarrassing. Shameful.

He was pretty effective on one shift, shutting down a guy with speed trying to penetrate the zone. He stayed with him and tied him up. No shot, and puck possession went to the Hawks.

If a lack of ice time is keeping him solid when he does skate, good for them.

they apparently now have small cameras drilled into the the insides of the posts, one on each side, part way off the ice - i couldn't see where they're located from the close up shot they showed last night. i had no idea. only the war room has that camera feed, which also apparently was "inconclusive". i have no idea what those cameras are capable of showing. either way they didn't work. they need to fix this somehow. there has to be a way to do this with sensors and some kind of field created between between the goal posts.

Sensors around the circumference of the puck
Sensors along the length of the back of the goal line
