i just learned they now have those pin hole cameras inside the posts. interesting. credit the league for trying this, but shocking they prove to be absolutely useless.

the NHL being utterly futile in any semblance of an administrative capacity is pretty much par for the course

i'm already bumbling the mess of junk that i currently have on my plate.

think i somehow parlayed two very strong interviews and potential landing spots into a great big cluster(frank) of uncertainty.

Of the teams left, the one I couldn't stand to see winning it is the ducks. They're unlikeable.

eh. i dont mind watching them. getz is fine. perry is a (frank)ing irritant but he is one of the best players in the league.

they dont play the muck up, (frank) all style.

admittedly, i have nothing against the hawks. a lot of their players are basically the best ambassadors of the game you could have. just irks the (frank) out of me that their duo will get at least 3 cups, whereas the crosby/malkin era will largely go down as a disappointment with just the one.

Agree with this but what happens next if the Flyers draft a center who is clearly an offensive center? As mentioned, you like Mathew Barzal.
- SuperSchennBros

Then you have assets to deal to fill other holes, or you can move a guy like Laughton to wing, or 4C for a couple seasons.

The questions don't need to be answered right now, they can take a couple seasons to get answered. If you have a Barzal or Provorov to plug in, it allows you to trade from a strength to fill a weakness. Maybe not niw, but in a year or two.

Plus, Barzal is a good two way guy, he's not just a pure offensive C, he's more Datsyuk than RNH, at least in that respect.

yeah. this can all be pointless if you guys end up drafting some phenom who comes in and is solid in 2 years time. but i dont think those are bad routes at all.

i think by flanking him with guys like PEB and white, that can be a very good fourth line that doesnt necessarily stifle any development by laughton.

schenn being able to play a wing, and just stay there and be let alone would be best for him and the team in my opinion.

then it just comes down to couturier. i dont think the flyers have a lot to lose by putting him in the position to succeed with easier assignments, an upgrade on linemates, and just letting him focus more on the offensive aspects of the game for a good stretch. they just cant be too quick to make a judgement on it. i think its worth giving him a solid 25 plus games there if it works, then i think you can probably groom laughton into a good shut down role type. if it doesnt, then you can still go back to just having coots be that guy himself.

like i said, it still is possible to ensure that certain guys are still getting 17, 18 minutes a night regardless of their actual line denotation.

- stayinthefnnet

Exactly, the way the league is moving, a good team uses its 4th line 10-12 minutes on average. Plus if your depth guys are good enough, they can get extra ice time on the PP & PK.

I guess we just differ on that. I believe teams that are taking a realistic approach to projecting prospects could definitely see a lot of late 1st round prospects as ideal 3rd liners for their career.
- JAKEw1234

What player turn out to be, and what they're projected as, during the draft are two different things. If any NHL management team is selecting players that they project as 3rd line players, with first round picks, they should be immediately fired.

I'll make it simple for you, seeing how you are only one half of the conversation I was reading. MJL continues to debate that Laughton is a top 6 forward and maybe he is but the Flyers seem focused on using him at center. So if I list the top 9 like this long term...

Giroux
Couturier
Laughton

Who is to say that this is wrong? Because the only solution I'm seeing long term is this...

Giroux
Laughton
Couturier

So what is the solution?

- SuperSchennBros

I'm not saying he is a top 6 forward, to be precise, I'm saying he has the potential to be a top 6 forward, and that the Flyers feel the same way.

Depends on how much talent is in the actual draft class. Every year is different.
The Leafs drafted Fredrik Gaithierin 2013 / 1st round and they immediately projected him as a " 3rd line Centre" at NHL level... But then again... It is the Leafs
