Why are you bailing on him? - rugdnit
No, I was told that nucker thinks he is a bust. I think he's going to need some seasoning in the AHL with a more offensive defencemen |

They will have salary cap issues in no time if they don't make some moves... - hillbillydeluxe
Yup, funny how I was in the Oiler thread and they were all preaching patience again now that they have McJesus on the way. I said you only have a few years, get off the MacT juice and make some moves before you cant afford to keep everyone |

Still a bit surprised they haven't made a deal with a team like Nashville and their dmen. Eberle for Jones or Josi?
Tbh, I think they are in a pretty good spot to make some moves without too many players signed to long term contracts. |

As soon as they won the lottery I assumed Draisaitl was available. He is a valued asset that could be packaged or flipped for a defenseman in a deal that wouldnt hurt their current roster. I just cant see them going into the season with McDavid, RNH, Draisaitl, Gordon as their centers |

Yep, they need to move bigger contracts out, bring in young guys which WD won't be happy about. Rebuild on the fly again. |

Not much chatter about Barzal. I'd love for Benning to get his hands on this kid...awesome skater and playmaker. Our new Henrik Sedin.
But I think they'll draft some defensemen. |

UFA? Weak market this year, why over pay? Draft? No one helps next season. Leaves us with the trade market and a cap issue, players with NTC's. Not lots of shopping this season I'm afraid. |

I think you'll see some trades this year, I'm hopeful anyways...UFA pool is so weak and the cap not moving much is gonna lean things that way.
Benning only traded two guys last summer and he brought in five new players in Vey, Vrbata, Sbisa, Dorsett and Bonino. |

Won't be easy for him to trade as things stand. |

Organizational need that will fill the holes for almost 75% of the teams in the league. I would be totally surprised if he is still there at mid 20's. Lots of teams with multiple picks in the 1st round. |

Why not? - LeftCoaster
NTC's. Bieksa, Burrows, Hamhuis. They want to stay. Higgin's? perhaps for...
Edit: I should have said "Fore" |

Yes for sure, I see him going in the 11 to 18 range, which would mean trading up for Benning.
We need more depth at center of a kid with his skill. |

I don't see it being a big issue at all other than the Sedins and maybe Hammer. Lots of moving parts with picks and younger players. |

We have no picks? Clear out the shelves in Utica? It won't be easy. |
