Rangers are still a pretty young team and do have a couple stud prospects in Buchnevich and Skjei. As long as Lundqvist is in net and we have this defensive core, which are all extended for the forseeable future, we will be competitive. Yandle will likely be dealt to recoup picks and prospects at the deadline next year. Rangers also have success drafting in the later rounds, so I'm not too concerned about a lack of 1sts and 2nds. |

I think you're missing the picture I was painting. I wasn't trying to say the Rangers are a bad team, they're arguably the best in the league at the moment. They're going to be up poop creek in 2-3 years though.
And yes having a good prospect pool and picks to supplement it are everything when it comes to maintaining a competitive team. Enjoy your window.
Make fun of the Habs all you want, they're 2 years into a rebuild, I'll wager a lot of money that the shoe will be on the other foot in a few years. |
