Trevor was pleased with the 101 points. Missing the playoff's is going "backwards" plus they want the revenue. They also want to get younger, and are usually picking in the bottom 1/3 of the seeding (when they have a picks). JB better be a (frank)ing Genius. It will be a long process looking for diamonds in the rough. - VanHockeyGuy
Let's be honest, this is all about revenue. Nothing more. Nothing less. |

At least I have the Seahawks, they don't even have a #1 pick and will still have a great draft! |

Stoll is a UFA, LA gives VAN fits, SJ & LA cupboards are full, LA is built for the playoffs. Expect EDM to give VAN trouble next year. - VanHockeyGuy
I don't know how full either of their cupboards are. I don't think they have the best prospect pools. And beating VAN isn't going to get LA into the playoffs. Maybe they're built for the playoffs but they're not built for the regular season. They aren't getting better year by year so I'm not going to pencil them in as a playoff team next year |

With Nicholson & Chiarelli they have very solid management team, more experienced than Vancouver's hands down, lots of draft picks (2 firsts). Trending upward. - VanHockeyGuy
They have been "trending upward" for the past 6 years and just won the lottery (again) Nicholson and Chirelli are good but for Edmonton to compete their asset management is going to have to be amazing. |

I don't want them to mail it in either, unless they trade the twins, but what I do want to see is an injection of new faces into the line-up. Which happened this year, but I'd like to see it continue. If it doesn't, then we have issues!!

There is no point trying to figure out the hierarchy of the league for next season. There is a list of teams that are probably looking a significant roster shake-ups:
Toronto
Boston
Edmonton
San Jose
and possibly:
St. Louis
Pittsburgh
Detroit
Philly

It will be ugly, I don't want to see that either. If that is what it looks like to start out with, but we see more youth in the bottom 6 I won't throw in the towel as long as opportunities for guys like Kassian and Bo to have a bigger role are there. I think Burrows will stay with the twins which I don't have a problem with, because he is realistically a 3rd liner unless he is with the twins. I think Bo will start as the 3C and work his way into the 2 spot. Higgins I hope will be gone and I think Sven will take that spot |

They had what, three home playoff games, that's three million dollars in playoff money total....ballpark.
I'm not sure it's really about revenue, because, if they continue to roll out the same poop core of top six players behind the Sedins there's going to be less and less bums in the seats during the regular season, which hurts their bottom line. |

Completely agree. Every year now we see a ton of turnover WRT standings, and I don't think next year will be any different. None of this year's playoff teams are safe next year |

Yep, Burrow's can sit in the dressing room with the twins playing checkers.

It will be interesting to see what the young guys bring to camp. Horvat could push for a second line role. (Although I think the following year would be more realistic.) Baertschi could make a case for himself. Virtanen could turn some heads as well.
If you look at Calgary's top 6 they have a rookie and second year player on their top line and 18 year old Sam Bennett on the second line. |

Matthews was the better prospect all along, much more complete WR and has the drive to be great, works his ass off. Richardson is a decent prospect but I was surprised that SEA took him at that point of the draft. |

Canucks are happy with the result, they got playoff revenue. Problem here is do you expect LA & SJ to miss the playoffs again? No. These are teams which already have more depth than VAN. Will EDM be as bad as last year? No. Are the playoffs a realistic goal based on the team as it sit's today? No. - VanHockeyGuy
All the bottom feeders should be better next year: Edmonton, Colorado, Dallas, SJ, LA. Well, maybe not Arizonia
Thing is, that will only make the division far tighter around the 92-96 point range. Normally is takes 96 points to make the playoffs. It was 99 this year, and even at 101 Vancouver was touch and go. It took that many points because of tanking. No tanking and tighter competition means that 96 should get you into the playoffs next year - maybe even 95 or 94 if Arizonia, Buffalo and TO etc don't get blown out too badly.
Bottom line, I dont expect Vancouver to break 100 points again next year, but if they can sneak out 95-96 points, they should be able to score a longshot for the SC. It will be a tight group in that area and some decent teams will unexpectedly fail. |

I'd love Virtanen on the 4th line. Throw him out there with Dorsett, just make sure there's a defensively responsible guy out there. More likely though I think someone like Gaunce comes in as 4C, in which case they don't bring in another rookie.

They can't go with Bonino as their second line center again, they just can't!!! He had 7 goals in his first 14 games and 8 in the remaining 68 games...you just can't find that acceptable for a second line center. At least I can't. |

I've read that Canucks management told Green to play Gaunce at LW all year in Utica. Makes no sense since he's a big guy, who plays a more positional game than a speed/energy game.
