I'm not against developing them-- I am saying that the draft record and development here speaks for itself.
With the situation in Utica things will get better.
MY POINT is this-- having guys season in the minors where most will plateau and languish after 2 years is not appealing to most prospects.
If this club is going to have low draft picks and look at signing NCAA players-- They are going to want to be assured that they are not going to be left to rot in the minors.
Presenting a 3-4 year plan to most prospects is not as appealing to a 2-3 year plan.

Let's see how the Canucks make out with the "plan" they proposed O'Connor. Jensen is a good example of a player who may just need to move on. There a tons of scouts out there competing with Benning and company, he's not trumping anyone. Treliving is just as talented at assessing talent, having a higher pick helps. 23 overall? Not sure yet.
