I like the Edler deal and the Vrbata deal. I don't like the Santorelli. I want to go after a tougher skilled guy like Beleskey for our third line LW but am ok with Kenins coming back if we can't

I just figured we could get Santorelli for fairly cheap. I'd also be cool with giving Gaunce a shot on the 4th line instead or bringing up Nick Jensen and letting him play 3rd line LW or be the 13rh man. I think PIT will be looking to beef up their scoring depth and at the expense of Pouliot and a pick I don't see how they say no. Rutherford isn't going to make drastic changes to the core. We might have to take back somebody like Scuderi

Beleskey is probably going to want same amount of money as Shawn Mathias but does bring more of a physicality. If we got him i'd love to see JV make the team and they can swap lines. More physical wingers awesome!

Everyone points to their top draft picks in Stamkos, Hedman, Drouin but that organization has found unreal talent in later rounds. They draft and develop incredibly well and are a testament to the idea that you don't need to have the highest pick to find and develop great players, but also that having high picks sure as poop doesn't hurt your chances

By comparison Detroits Development model is typically 3 to 4.

So why would you choose Detroits model over Tampa?

Why would a prospect want to play for Vancouver if they know they are going to be stuck in the minors for 3 to 4 years ? Anything can happen in 3 to 4 years like a career ending injury or you languish there and find yourself stuck behind some bum who has a tough contract.

IMHO you are wasting players talent / ability / productive years if they are forced to stay too long.

You need that Youth and with the right mix of vets you can live with their mistakes.

Vets make mistakes too... Cough*Edler*Cough Cough*Bieksa*Cough.....
