Bishop is not shacky against mtl - MartyMcFlyHabs
He wasn't shaky in the regular season at all. It's the playoffs that seem to give him trouble. |

I thought so too, but the numbers suggest otherwise.
5v5 save percentage for Bishop in seven playoff games this year = 93.97%
5v5 save percentage for Price in six playoff games this year = 94.05%
This is from War on Ice. Obviously Price is the better goaltender, and thus the Canadiens have a huge advantage in net, but I'm not sure Bishop was as bad as he looked at times. |

Who? Stralman? He was the best player on the ice tonight by far. |

While I'm in the same boat as you in regards to playing Tampa, would it really be any better if Detroit won? They were on their A game with the exception of game one. I thought they outplayed Tampa to be honest, (no offence to the Bolts, it wasn't like they dominated.). Point being I really don't think there was a good scenario for the Habs coming out of this series. We'll see what happens.
Good series to both Tampa and Detroit! Was an entertaining one to watch. |

swept mtl 5-0 and outscored them 21-8. and im pretty sure price was in for all the games but 1. we are in his head. and bishop is in theirs. that 1-0 OT win in MTL may have been one of the best games all season to watch. MTL doesn't have the defense to shut down the bolts. this one will be over in 5 or 6 if price steals a game. |

That sounds like something i already heard about 2-3 weeks ago about Sens.
It is playoffs. Mtl has much more playoffs experience as a team than the Bolts. Has a better goalie and better D.
TB as a beast of an offense. Man i would lovbe to get half of this offense on the Habs as we would be unbeatable.
Let's see what happens. But don't think it would be like in regular season.
And let's see what the 1st game will look like. TB's fatigue?? Mtl's rust??

Wings shut that Stamkos group down hard, I don't think Montreal has the defensive forwards to do the same. Good luck going forward! - nova2112
Exactly what I was telling my friend yesterday of the lightning won. I expect the Lightning forwards to score a lot more this series compared to last. |

No Price was in for all 5.
Not a pretty series and it sure wasn't drawn up that way. I love the possession graph but what it doesn't show was some of the best shutdown hockey in the last 12 minutes I've seen the Bolts play.
I doubt Montreal plays as tight as a forward group as the Wings and this was a good lesson for a young team after being swept out last year, tight ugly hockey and adversity being down 3-2 so a perfect series to start for the Bolts. Montreal play a cocoon style defence collapsing around Price with a D that just throws the puck to centre to take away pressure. We don't have a problem with Price for some reason and Bish has been in their heads all year so let's see what the playoffs bring. Just keep Gallagher away from Bish's legs - you have to love his grit and work in the crease but he seems to have no regard for goalies - reckless abandon. Pleks and Patch always show up and give us fits and P K while great offensively he can be had with pressure- I never saw anyone willing to give up the puck more to avoid a hit than him. |

that's VERY debatable. no doubt price is the best goalie (no offense to bishop), but tampa has a great D.
hedman, stralman, garisson, cobourn, carle, etc.
i'd probably take that over the Habs D |

My thinking (hope) as well.
If this plays out like it is on paper... should be a great series... if it plays out like the regular season.... eek |

I'll have whatever you're having this early in the morning!
Also... what the hell is a 'cocoon defence'? Is this something you've made up a name for? |

Congrats to Tampa and their fans. Great entertaining series... and quite a bit of drama. The Wings' fans still love Stevie Y and are happy for him. These two teams are at different stages. Bolts are a contender right now (and fairly young too). Wings are retooling... The good thing is Grand Rapids (farm team) is stacked with talent.
Bolts will need their top guns scoring to beat Montreal (which I do think will happen). If they can somehow get their PP going that would give them an edge in the series.
And you'll hear this from any Red Wings fan... the regular season games mean ZERO in terms of a measuring stick if you'll win in the playoffs against your opponent. Wings learned that the hard way back in the 90's when they were dominant.
Good luck in round two... gotta cheer for Stevie Y's team. |

I dunno Montreal has a few quality defensive forwards (plekanecs, eller, even pacioretty) - what they're lacking is the really offensive ones. |

Their ability to annoy with Wesie, Prust and Subban will play a signifgant role. Tampa must remain disciplined or they'll get burned by Montreal's power play. |
