Geno to Canucks? from Sportsnet
Vancouver Canucks: Take a deep breath…Malkin straight up for the Sedins. How does that sound? It seems like the type of outlandish trade only completed in video games or fantasy leagues, sure, but what better way to shake up both franchises? Being on a Sedin-less Canucks team would finally give Malkin a chance to be the face of a franchise and it would add some more depth to the Pens. From the Canucks perspective, the team hasn’t been anywhere close to a contender since making the Cup final in 2011 so a major move might be in store. Even if the Sedins weren’t part of the deal, the Canucks would have plenty of other pieces to offer up.
Potential trade chips: Daniel Sedin, Henrik Sedin, Jake Virtanen, Brendan Gaunce, Nicklas Jensen, Jared McCann, Sven Baertschi, Hunter Shinkaruk - Grumpy13

I would be even ok giving up bieksa for the cap space so we can make other moves.
Realistically I can see him being moved for a high second - VANTEL
I dont think his cap is too high this year. But show other teams footage of his play this year and they'll piss on any offer we give them for a 2nd rounder.
Not going to happen.
I think its widely known throughout the league that he can still drop the gloves. But all other facets of his game have dropped dramatically.
Heard Linden say today that the plan is to have young talent hopefully embrace the AHL for a couple years before coming to the show.
Ofcourse we cant trully believe that. But if true. Expect to see alot of the same next year. |

Pretty sure they're trying to emulate the Detroit model. Not a bad idea in the long run. |

I don't want Malkin anywhere near this team. He's now oft injured and his salary is absolutely ridiculous (basically almost the price of both Sedins). Who else would we get other than Malkin in this deal? It would be trying to replace two quality players with one?
Additionally, as I've maintained, there are only two choices with the Sedins:
1) Retirement and/or going back to playing in Sweden
2) Continuing to play with the Canucks for a few more seasons
No other possibility exists |

Bieksa's cap hit is 4.6 and his actual salary is 2.5 . A great bargain for any team trying to reach cap floor
Not only that , but if Bieksa /Sbisa are our bottom pair, fans will be screaming for the return of Gillis and Torts |

That doesn't make us a better team. The Sedins automatically give us a good first line and are pretty hardy. Further I don't think the dressing room would fare well with Sedins out and Malkin in. Finally if it's not a move that will actually improve our team in the long run, then I don't think the fans would be behind it. I know I wouldnt |

I would prefer a tank to anything else. I am sick of Aquilini using Linden to sell worthless hope to the 5 hot dog eaters. So no more complaining about Sbisa's contract because he's here as long as the twins and this team will be doing nothing for the next 3 years, Sbisa's 3.6 is as much a waste as the Sedin's 14mil, you got to ice a team so ice one that everyone knows. As the NTCs come to an end replace them with kids and load up on talent. Hell maybe tanking will force the Sedins to retire a year earlier. |

1) salary hit would be far to great for that to happen
2) Malkin would go back to Russia before playing here
3) sedins may go to Sweden before playing there but I think for them the draw would be good to be a second line to Crosby( if they want a cup it'd be wise to go)
I don't think it would be bad to give up 2-60point players for 1 of about 10 players I still think are capable of getting 100+ points. I don't really see this going down in all honesty.

What 2 60 pt players are you talking about? The ones that scored 73 and 76 points this past season? Or the ones that have only had one season below 70 pts since 03-04? *assuming prorated pt totals for short year. |

I didn't buy the presser, bull shyte.
a) You want to get younger
b) You want to challenge for a Stanley Cup
c) Your not going backwards
How does that work?

It is quite the phenomena that the Sedins seem to get so little respect, yet they are about the most consistent (and extremely durable - despite taking so much abuse on a nightly basis) players in the league and have been for the past ten or so years. |

I don't see them improving point totals at age 35, as I don't for any player that old. I see a decline coming, but that being said I would expect them no less than 60, but I wouldn't expect to see them ever hit 70 again. If they do though, I'd be pleasantly surprised. |
