Good points on Hamhuis. And as much as I hate to say it, I think Bieksa needs to go (love the guy's compete, passion, heart and team play but he's unfortunately now become a liability ). I do hope he at least goes to a place with a chance to win the cup. Despite my often cursing at the t.v. for his various blunders and give-aways this past year in particular, the guy has always given it all for the Canucks and fans, and he's a class act

I agree a lot with Booner about Bieksa. I think he picks his spots when he wants to be a heart and soul guy, or when he wants to stand up and fight.

Burrows is a heart and soul guy. He will drop them any night, bite off your finger, stand up for a teammate. What ever is needed , every game he brings it. That is heart and soul.

Hope we get some picks for them and not out right released. I just want to see guys get the chance with the big club for some sort of look. Especially guys that are on the bubble.

Look at Connauton. Can't remember him getting a shot with the Canucks. Would his future looked any different if he was given a chance with the Canucks?

You won't get picks for guys like Stanton Defasio, Archibald. I could see getting picks for Weber Vey Sven COrrado

I definitely seem to be in the minority here, but again, I feel like I'm watching a different team than the rest of folks.

Agreed on the Olympics and his character, but again, I just don't think he's that good for the Nucks. I'd take Edler and Tanev over Hamhuis any day. Those two crapped the bed on the PK, but were +7 against Calgary. He can skate and make a great first pass yes, but can not hold the zone on a heavy forecheck. Tanev can.

Just a quick comment on your avatar name. I got a chance to play against Ronning in a few pick up games quite a while ago and man oh man he is 1) tiny 2) unbelievably mobile (I got pissed off and tried to bump him a little and he made me look like a soggy pretzel).

In any event, we'll have to agree to disagree with respect to Hamhuis, although I will say that he didn't have a stellar year compared to his other campaigns. That said, I think it would be a huge mistake to let him go or trade him. I think that the serious injury he's had as well as a few other minor ones along the way had an effect on his overall game this past year. I think he'll have a much better season next year (he's still only 32)

Well, I think you already know my stance on Burrows. One of my favourite players and definitely the heart and soul of the team.

Yes, Bieksa tends to pick his moments but he'll still drop them with anyone pretty much anytime. He is tough as nails (try playing through all the various injuries he's played with since being here - not easy to do given his gritty style of play)

I could see Stanton being worth a late pick. Defense is often a need for many teams. It was our luck to get him off waivers...

One of the usual top 4 has to be moving if Weber is being resigned... something has to give.

Our defense had been a strength a few years ago, now...

As much as Benning said it is hard to trade, I think this year is a very good year to make big moves , for a lot of good teams.

This year should have the more than usual player movement.

With teams like the Oilers Coyotes and Flames getting better next year, if Cunucks stay pat they will finish out of the playoffs and probably bottom 10

Its one thing to say "make big moves" Its another thing to actually complete that task.

This aint nhl15.

Is giving away Juice for a 4th rounder really logical for anyone? If were going to rid ourselves of contracts like that, we'd likely need to retain salary.

The offseason will be interesting. But I think alot of people are expecting HUGE changes when it could likely be minimal.

If you cant find a dancing partner, you cant do shyt.

Where did you see the proposal Beiska for a fourth rounder? I missed that one.

The reason it should be interesting is now players will be willing to play in Edmonton. SJ management and top players are not seeing eye to eye. Malkin wants a trade. Pitt Bos LA and Flyers didn't make the playoffs. Canucks Preds maybe TB got bounced early . TO want to move Doin and Phil.

Not a terrible spot to be in when Benning says it will be a deep draft. silver lining.

I think we need a refresh on the defence to see the biggest improvement with the club.

I am expecting JB to be ready to make some moves.

Linden just said on the 1040 they will probably draft a Dman according to postings on Twitter.

I don't mind if we finish bottom 10

I think moving Vrbata will get the highest return before the start of next season. He probably won't be playing with the twins next year so his numbers should drop

Doesn't he also have a NTC? or limited NTC?

Not implying it was purposed. Simply saying what more are we going to get for him?

This off season will be interesting. But I dont think we'll see the amount of movement we all kinda hope to see.

I would be even ok giving up bieksa for the cap space so we can make other moves.

Realistically I can see him being moved for a high second

Don't think so , no more cap geek , maybe he does ?

A limited NTC means he can still be moved

Just checked - looks like he's got a limited NTC. So, who knows what teams are on his list and if he would be willing to be moved to ones that are possible trade partners.

I think not playing with the Sedins, might influence him to try to play on a better team

I think if the cap goes down, it will probably necessitate at least some movement. But it's hard to gauge at the moment. When will they firmly establish the cap level for next year?

That could certainly be incentive, as I think he had expectations of playing with the twins. But he saw much less ice-time with them down the stretch so perhaps he'd be willing to reconsider his NTC status.

I hope they reunite the Sedins with Burrows full time. Thus far, the various experiments with different players have had pretty much mixed results. But with Burrows, you know you are getting fairly consistent returns due to the great chemistry he has with them.

Maybe at the draft?

Bezz sort of summed it up before , you can't have 8 mil on your bottom pair D. Kev was terrible this year and taking a chance on COrrado or Pedan both RHS couldn't be much worst.

Geno to Canucks? from Sportsnet
Vancouver Canucks: Take a deep breath…Malkin straight up for the Sedins. How does that sound? It seems like the type of outlandish trade only completed in video games or fantasy leagues, sure, but what better way to shake up both franchises? Being on a Sedin-less Canucks team would finally give Malkin a chance to be the face of a franchise and it would add some more depth to the Pens. From the Canucks perspective, the team hasn’t been anywhere close to a contender since making the Cup final in 2011 so a major move might be in store. Even if the Sedins weren’t part of the deal, the Canucks would have plenty of other pieces to offer up.

Potential trade chips: Daniel Sedin, Henrik Sedin, Jake Virtanen, Brendan Gaunce, Nicklas Jensen, Jared McCann, Sven Baertschi, Hunter Shinkaruk
