At a 9.5 cap hit, that would be ridiculous. Does this team have a problem with Canadian players?

- VanHockeyGuy

I dont understand. Vans last 4 first round picks are all canadian.

So Kassian, Jensen and Shinkaruk ?
- Scooby_Doo

Yah, that should fit him under the cap and certainly fix our defensive issues

I don't understand why nobody wants a star player on vancouver.

I would look at it as a tradable asset in 3 years with a huge return and save 4.5 mil per in the meantime
- VANTEL

You don't save 4.5 mil, it might not be so tradeable down the road, and it makes us worse. I'd rather not.

A. Wow

B. What it costs to have a star player in their prime now a days.

C. He fixes secondary scoring and the power play.

D. He takes heat off the sedins by himself.

E. He can if he wants be a game changer.

F. He would probably keep van in the playoff race next season.

Never in the franchise's history have they had a one/two center punch that they'd have with Hank and Geno. Championship teams are strong down the middle. I know it's a pipedream at best but not wanting a guy like Malkin is ridiculous....depending on the cost.

The key is to get rid of guys like Richardson, Matthias, Higgins, Burrows & Bonino (10 million in salary) and replacing them with younger players on cap friendly deals.

The team needs a lot more changes than acquiring secondary scoring though, they must must must get better on defence this summer!!!

I'd love to have Geno on the team. What would it realistically cost though? Pens need veteran help on the wings and would need a centre coming back as well.

Not moving Vrbata would be a mistake. He has one year left and will not be playing with the twins this year, so doubtfully scores 31 again.

We could grab a nice piece coming back like Pouliot or a young player coming back that would be excellent.

- VANTEL

I agree, but that's not the issue. Again, I don't trust Botchford but if that quote was true and from someone like Benning/Linden/Desjardins/Gilman then these guys maybe aren't the best as evaluating talent.

So does Bob Hartley it's hilarious. Remember I heard interviews from both of them in the same day and it was shocking

Why can't the franchise hire a capable public speaking intelligent GM who's not gay'ish?

Yesterday WD metioned that Vrbata wasn't playing with the Sedins because of something that the media couldn't know. "Some things don't leave the dressing room" - I think Botch is just trying to stir the pot.

The more I read about what Benning has to say, and or listen to him in interviews, the more worried I get about the future direction of the club.

The original article was proposing both Sedins straight up for Malkin, so he wouldn't be providing secondary scoring, he would be the guy. Malkin on the same team as the twins would be intriguing, but Malkin for the twins is a bad trade, IMO.

I don't care about his public speaking skills, however he better bring in the right players!
