Benning suggests a goalie might get dealt at the draft, want's to recoup a pick(s). Sure O'Connor plays into this somehow. |

Hopefully the OHL playoffs this year isn't a sign of things to come with McCann vs McDavid. |

Any young player will have their hands full with McDavid. |

No doubt and it wasn't criticism of McCann. I think he will be a good NHL player eventually. |

Good move. Weber is not fully ready for prime time, but he's young and could develop well. Looking good on the PP so far.
Sad to keep hearing about the prospects...because none of them are defensemen. |

The team will have just under 5 million in cap space and players to sign. Barring a core player getting moved, don’t expect too much change unless it comes from within. There are going to be growing pains.

Yup, I don't think he is the biggest problem on the back-end. I just hope he doesn't get a ridiculous contract like Sbisa. |

There's no $$ to do that, it will have to be a pretty good deal. |

One of the biggest shockers last off season was seeing Garrison, with a ntc, dealt. A similar move could still happen this summer.
Something needs to happen on defence. |

Jason Brough @JasonPHT .
Attending Canucks press conference in person was just an excuse to get a Costco hotdog for lunch.
Jason B seemed a bit frustrated with not being able to ask questions or as many questions as he wanted. busy presser.

Even guys like Virtanen are going to eat up a lot of cap as I believe his cap hit is 1.75 after bonuses, Shink is 1.1 after bonuses.
I see 7 players left to sign/recall and 5.6 according to cap central.
I know CA quoted 4.86 million and 6 spots.
Either way it doesn't leave a lot of room, you have to think that a few vets need to move to be able be able to make the cap work. |

The Brandon wheat kings are up 2-1 in the series. I'm glad Calgary won 1 game at least and JV returns for game 5 on Friday in Brandon. I'm going to go see him play then. |

It's 800,000 per player if the cap is at 70 or something. Bonuses don't count against the cap unless players reach them which they will be added on it years end and van would be penalized for the following season. |

Well Benning seems to be handing out blank cheques at the moment.
I just want it to be under 2 and I can breath a little bit easier. |

Anton cenderholm and miles Liberati are both playing still. Both are on the top pairings I believe |

With 7 players to sign and 6 million to do it. 2 million isn't even possible unless he is getting rid of a big contract. |

Fair enough, I thought they counted fully. Bettman reports he expects 71.5 as the cap last weekend.

Oh I hadn't heard. Good to know thanks. That's some more wiggle room. With luongos contract it's listed as a buyout of 800,000 but it's retained salary. Does it count against one of vans buyouts? If not I'd have to say that if burrows and bieska don't waive then they are prime suspects. |

WD made it pretty clear, that he doesn't expect Horvat will be 2C next year or that any other young players will make the jump from juniors.
Linden made it pretty clear that making the playoffs is more important than developing the team.
So in other words, we will likely have the exact same roster, with vets getting the most of the opportunities. |
