Evolution? Is that what they called it when God created the universe?

"Actually Jake Gardiner was second in the NHL in dCorsi Impact, and is the most underrated hockey player in the existence of the world. "

Not sure if you saw this or not.... but I think you can guess who wrote this comment...

Maybe that think could make MacDonald, VLC, and Umberger disappear.

I'm not sold on him. I don't know what his contract situation is but I wouldn't give him a giant payday and a lot of years.

i will say this about dubnyk - part of it was the garbage in front of him, and natural growing pains, but he's also now using a special technique of puck tracking that's helped him transform his game. that's the biggest reason for his improvement. from what i've been told by those in the know.

And that may very well be true. I see he's on a one-year $800k deal right now. I'd give him 2 years at $2.5-$3M tops. If he proves himself to be a legit #1 guy then he gets a bigger payday.

And just to liven things up in here a bit, I found this article while I was looking for Dubnyk info.

Have at it, folks.

i agree in that i wouldn't give him a big payday yet either. let him prove himself after more than half a season and some playoff success. goalies can pull that off in small doses, as we've seen many times before.

i really don't want to read this article you've posted.

The goaltender Dubnyk backed up for Team Canada at the 2006 World Juniors?

Justin Pogge.

Basically, the guy the Leafs chose over Tuukka Rask.

Trouble maker.

I do get the negative stories and comments when he signed, it's the stuff today, from the Milburys and Roenicks that gets my goat.

ya know ya try to ignore those kinda blowhards, but it's just so (frank)ing hard sometimes. Kinda like tanner. You know you probably shouldn't click on his blog in fear of his idiocricy ruining your day, but you still do click on it because you have to see what kinda nonsense he's posting that day.

In a way, its like a car accident. You know you probably shouldn't stare at it, but you do, even if you are driving 90 mph down the expressway.

Yes, but my main take-away is that while stats are fun and useful and all, there is still no substitute for good old hockey smarts. Clearly someone in Philly (likely Reese and/or someone close to him) saw through the numbers.

Not a chance.

Edit: What's the return? If it's Shea Weber, then yes.

- jmatchett383

The way Nashville held up against Chicago and Weber's most recent injury, I do wonder if they're ready to unload that deal.
