what about something like AMac, Vinny and # 7 for the #25 or something like that?
- wilsonecho91

No way. I would go from 7-10 though to get rid of one of the turds.

Here's a question

Would you deal away this years Flyers 1st round pick if the team in question would take Vinny and Umberger off our hands?

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

That's a good start...but what's coming back?

Never mind, there is not a GM in the league desperate/dumb enough to offer that deal.

Get the #6 for sending the #7, VL, and RJU?

Edit: Never mind, back reading is my friend. Sure, for Weber, I'd do that. I don't think Poile has lost all his marbles, though, so...

Interesting article but I have to correct the author. The Flyers need a left winger. Not a winger in general.

Jake, Simmonds, Read, NAK. All these guys prefer the right side. Now Rantanen undoubtedly has higher upside than all but one of these guys but youre looking at a huge logjam to draft another one. As far as I know Read is the only guy out of this bunch that has much if any experience at LW so the solution of just flipping them to LW might be a bit problematic.

It kind of stinks that this 1st round is weak at LW prospects to take in the top 10. Crouse and Zacha. That's about it. Maybe Barzal could play it too but idk.

That was a TSN report, I think.

Curious: What is your specific critique of Eakins? He was a rising star before taking that Oilers job.

- johndewar

Soft practices full of him preaching the "right way to play ". He isn't so much wrong in his his theories but I heard 1:10 of a 2 hr practice was him and his gay whiteboard. He talked. A lot. About nothing. You guys will hate this guy....

...and for the record Inwas never very vocal about my not liking him to other fans, mainly because I saw a piss poor roster and don't like to name a scape goat when there are so. Many issues....but then he got gassed and we went about .500 after that so...

But listen to him talk and you'll want to punch his face. He's never won at the NHL level but is apparently the guy who knows best? (frank) him, and pray the Leafs hire him.

Unfortunately for Akeson, the Flyers had their minds made up by late November.

Bill, were opinions on Akeson's season really monolithic within the organization?

Chief was fired expressly for failing to get the most out of his players, with more than a few guys not being put in the best position to succeed... his treatment of Akeson this season seems like a microcosm of that.

Twenty-nine other NHL organizations may have a similar judgment, because he passed through waivers unclaimed despite his relative youth, undeniable offensive vision, hands and relative youth.

29 other teams also thought MDZ/Schultz/White/Coloiocovo weren't worth a damn.

Briere was sent through waivers a bunch of times when he was with Pheonix.

Akeson brings a good deal of this on himself though. He's incredibly undisciplined in regards to penalties and playmaking. There will be at least 2-3 times each game where he does something stupid like trip a guy for no reason or try to skate through 4 players when his defenseman are going off for a change.

I would have preferred the Flyers let him play through his mistakes to see if he got better though.

I'd apply if I lived closer, since it's only PT (not that I'd have a chance at getting it though).

...yeah just read his article. I like that occasionally he will give a not so heard point of view (when he's not talking statistics). When he's predicting at beginning of the season, he doesn't just go with the obvious, hawks, blues, ducks, etc. It just drives me nuts when he looks at fancy stats and comes to the conclusion that jordie benn is one of the better defensemen in the league..... and when he figures that jake muzzin should be considered for the Norris over his defensive partner.....
