Florida won't give Toronto a top 6 player and 11th overall unless Toronto gives them the Nashville pick... which is possible. - archromat
Yeah I didn't mean Hubberdeau and the 11th I just ment that I think the 11th would be the starting point. I highly doubt he gets moved without a fairly high 1st pick coming back. |

I understand what you are saying but there is another side to this coin. If a player is coveted by a number of teams it creates a demand issue which then drives the price back up. The fact that his work ethic is less than stellar and his penchant for Harvey's burgers is well documented doesn't tarnish the fact the he is an elite goal scorer with explosive speed and skill like few others in the league. That kind of talent is always in demand. - justmike
I think it's one of those things we will have to wait and see. To many factors go in to trading players these days that's why there is a lot less trades and also the value of picks change from draft year to draft year. I mean Paul gaustad fetched a first at the deadline and he is a fourth liner it's really hard to say for sure what anyone will fetch. |

If the Leafs were offered Huberdeau and 11th for Kessel (1m/y eaten) and ~21st, I would take the swap in a heartbeat as both teams. There are some players that might drop to 11th that the Leafs wouldn't expect (Crouse or Rantanen, for example). Florida would upgrade their offense and give themselves a more exciting player while Toronto would get younger and stock a pretty good pick in the cupboards. |

Really find the Maple Laughs fan comments comical. These are the same folks who celebrated the signing of Clarkson and then argued with Devils fans when we told them Clarkie was nothing more than a glorified 3rd liner. |

As a leaf fan I can tell you that I personally do not know one other fan that "celebrated the signing of Clarkson". I didn't mind us signing him as he had a pretty good year in NJ but when I heard the details of the contract I almost fell over. Thankfully we got out from under that rock somehow.

not bad.
i feel like there should be one more asset (a 2nd?) coming to Toronto, but hard to say no to 2 quality pieces like that. very tempting. |

I really want Marner and Barzal or Marner and Provorov if we somehow managed to get your guys pick |

Barzal could be available at 11... some projections have him as low as the 20s... but that 6th spot is going to be competitive. Colorado and SJ would love to get their hands on Provorov as well. Our first last year is his teammate, so we might even draft him. |

Yeah that's what I was hoping for with Barzal if the leafs end up with the 11th but I think after his under 18 performance he'll likely go higher. Maybe even the next forward taken after Strome and Marner |

Still trying to figure out how trading clarkson for a dead body isn't circumventing the cap? |

It's called pushing the limits, one might think New Jersey fans would know all about that since it was your team who introduced the league to such methods.

The crime was being committed, the Devils were the first (and only ones) punished when Vancouver and Chicago both blatantly did it before them. This isn't the word I would use.
Any contract over 7 years is cap circumvention... Hossa 12 years is when the league should have stepped in. |
