I agree, I hope we get some of those picks back
- bezz44

Higgins, Hansen, Burrows should get us some picks back with teams that are looking for some cheaper veterans.

If I had to use this current roster and prospects this would be my line up

Sedin Sedin Burrows

Virtanen Horvat Vrbata

Kennis MCCann Hansen

Kassian Bonino Dorsett

That's if I had to keep that roster

I would prefer to trade players like Edler or Hamhuis , Bieksa for sure, Higgins , Bonino , and yes Vrbata while his value is super high.

I would like to see Canucks trade for a top 6 skilled/tough player.

My UFA target would be Beleskey. There are many middle of the road teams that want a shake up . I would love a guy like burns on the back end and I would love LUcic on the top 6 . I am not saying that we can get them but I would be very very happy.

I would trade a Kassian Vrbata for LUcic. I would trade Bonino Vey for Sutter. That's just me.

Sedin Sedin Burrows
LUcic Horvat Virtanen
Beleskey Sutter Hansen
Downie MCCann Dorsett

That would be my ideal forwards

Burns Tanev
Hamhuis as the top 3 D

- VANTEL

I'd be fine with Sutter instead of Bonino but I'd much rather use assets on moves similar to the ones you suggested above like Lucic or Burns (who I doubt is available). Hell even a guy like Byfuglien. Guys who may be a bit inconsistent but can have a significant impact

I think a move like that should be way down on the priority list. I'm not sold that Sutter is a better option than Bonino or even Matthias but even if I wholeheartedly thought so I would much rather move Bonino and Vey for an area of weakness if they're being moved. Whether it be picks/prospects, defense, or in a package for a top 6 forward. I would much rather trade them for say Louie Erikson than Brandon Sutter
- bezz44

Matthias will walk or hopefully traded, Sutter & Eriksson are two complete different players. Sutter has the heart and ethic this team needs, also a good mentor for BO.

Lol the first roster wouldn't be my preference. the Second I could live with Lucic and great minds think alike on the 3rd line LW. As for Downie, I hate punks like him. Where is your boy Sven though?

Forget Lucic or Byfuglien, no cap room and we're handcuffed.

One of your posts you said tinkering with third lines is not important.

Third lines are huge in the Playoffs . Ask Ferland Bolland Ladd . These are just a few players that have created Havoc for Canucks over the years in playoffs.

Top 6 players usually nullify each other in POs and it comes down to grit of the bottom 6 .

Vrbata Kassian was the trade offer. That is cheaper than LUcic or even salary

Would Kassian, Bonino and Edler be enough to get Malkin?
Possibly Add in our 1st.

Yep, even for arguments sake if Bonino & Sutter were equal talents/value, I would take the later just for his heart.

Sven would be battling Kenins all year for icetime

Malkin is often injured and also his 9 mil salary sucks

I would have to argue that they are fighting for different roles on the team. Sven for a top 6 and Kenins a bottom 6.

I agree keeping this current roster is only going to bring heartache, big moves need to be made

It would make them both step up their game until you had a clear cut winner and yes two very different roles

Sven is projected top 6, not a done deal yet. Neither is Kenin's on the bottom 6? "Change is coming"

Yeah his salary is a lot and he has been an injury case for a while but he alone could give us secondary scoring. 70 points in 69 games. That's the same amount as bonino and edler.

I don't like the contract, but I see a player that is dying to get out of Sids shadow.

MGT has made it clear it's Sids Team and Malkin wants to the THE GUY.

If he could ever get out of there I bet he would shine.

I don't think he's a fit here for the timeline of our players etc etc.

I agree with the Sutter over Bonino comment but unless we are using Sutter's heart in some form or sacrifice to hockey gods to get us in the playoffs it would be a moot point having a 3LC that is playoff hardened. Based on out current roster and the NTC anchors we are not going to get better in a hurry. We will most likely have to wait till the TDL to get rid of KB. I don't think he will waive at draft.
Miller is another anchor that is going nowhere, along with hammer and maybe even Burrows.

I agree tinkering won't help us and that Fixing the D and adding Size and youth! LOL

I like what Calgary did and had the kid line.

My Proposal for next season

Daniel Henrik Vrbata
Sven Bo Virtanen
____ Bonino Kassian
Dorsett ____ ______

4th Line RW (fitting) Ryan White.
4th line C Jim Slater
3rd line LW Matt Belesky.

- manvanfan

The Monahan line was not together until the last couple months at all ...it was either hudler with Monahan or hudler with gaudreau for most of the season

IMO if you want a young line work your way up to it ...you don't want to see Bo regress and you want JV to be insulated better

I never said it's not important I said this team has more important issues. If the Coyotes trade for the best 3rd liners in the game they are still going to suck. Ladd put up 60 points this year he's a 1st liner. And Top 6 players nullify each other if they are equal. If your 2nd line is poop then your 3rd, 4th, and 1st lines are going to suffer accordingly
