Secondly, we are not a championship team. We are at best a playoff bubble team. There is no need to trade away 2 young centers to get a play of the same age back that can compete in the current WC. We have McCann the could possibly play the same role as Sutter in 2-3 yrs and by then maybe we can become a contender. We need to focus on evaluating our existing talent base and drafting to cover future holes.

I want to see the following for next year.

Bonino Bo Sven/Vrabata

Dorsett Richardson Kassian/ Burrows

Hansen UFA Gaunce/ Vey

We get rid of Higgins Burrows and Mathias. Maybe McCann can make the similar jump that Bo made this year and cover the 4th line C role although it might be too early for that.

Most of the ppl in here want the team to get bigger, stronger, more physical. Adding in Sven, Vey doesn't add that compared to the higgins and burrows. Gaunce might bring a more physical presence but not enough. Sven and Vey will be going for the same role next year. Can't have room for both.

Already have the Sedins, vrbata, bonino that aren't physical. Really can't afford to have another player in the top 6 that isn't physical. Will get steamrolled every game and if by chance we make the playoffs would get bounced again first round.

What trouble are you referring too? He had an injury plagued season but put together a chunk of PPG excellent offensive play. He may be traded but that seems no more likely than that he comes back. 2nd lines aren't usually filled with goons. The 3rd/4th lines this year have been interchangeable and could very well be next year. That said, I'm with you on front loading things a bit more. And the crappy deck comment I'm not going to get into too deeply aside from saying that we're all doing the same thing. Inserting a few new players and removing a few old ones. I hate to break it to you, but subbing Bonino/Vey for Sutter is trading a 7 of clubs and a 5 of spades for a 7 of spades

I'm more concerned with the defence, anyone we draft won't help next year, a quality UFA won't help with the cap situation, no one it Utica will improve us to where we need to be. That leaves the trade market with not a lot of movable pieces with the NTC's. Trade picks? The price for a good top 4 D will probably start with your #1 pick, then we have nothing until the 4th as it currently stands. The backend is going to take some time to fix. No easy answer.
