Why does Bo need protecting?
I don't want him but I certainly don't want to have to watch him play the nucks with stupid antics 5 times a season. - belcherbd

McGratten would have been a blessing for the Canucks. We had Bieksa as our turnover machine , McGratten could have been theres - VANTEL
except McGratten would of only played 1 shift, long enough to get your boy tossed from the game.
Bieksa was playing 18 min a night. |

McGratten couldn't catch him

It would be the same as Monahan playing with Gaudreau with Bo and JV then. You could take Sven and add a more veteran presence. Sven does now have 69 games under his belt. Bo only got better as the season went on. - manvanfan
It's not as simple as throwing a few kids together tho ...you need the right vet ...giving Bo the responsibility of a first year player out of junior and an AHL stud who isn't the best defensively is a lot to ask ...you have a good player in Bo ...don't want to put too much on him too soon |

Get used to it, there's a strong possibility EDM battles us for the final playoff spot next year, as things stand right now. - VanHockeyGuy
Not as things stand now. They have bad goaltending and worse D. There's no way they even sniff the playoffs with that group, even with McDavid. |

The good thing about this line up is we will finally get a top 5 pick - VANTEL
You said the same thing about this years roster last off season. |

Lots of emphasis on the 2nd line which is fair enough, but until the defence gets fixed expect the same result next year (or worse). |

Yes but he was on his way to becoming a 1st liner. An impact player in the making. And I never said 3rd lines aren't important. I was pumping Ferland's tires while everyone was calling him a charging bumhole. You are the one who has said all year this team has 3 3rd lines. And I agree. So go get Lucic, go get more top 6ers and a better defense, and only then do you come back to your 3rd line tinkering. Cart before the horse - bezz44
And he never said a single nice thing about you. What an ass... |

Polite teams seldom win - VANTEL
There is a large gap between polite and disgraceful.
Only Boston has won with those tactics recently. LA plays physical but not the same antics as the Bruins.
Previous winners are made up of predominantly highly skilled players, not goons.

They surprised me for sure, they played a good regular season and made the playoffs. However they are still smoke and mirrors, a simply horrible post season team that's clearly not built for the playoff's. CAL exposed it this year, EDM might next year. We are still trending downwards, all we did was patch some holes. I hope we pick to 5 next year, wouldn't you?

As many of us said. IMO Vantel's statement is more true for the 2015 - 2016 season because the teams we'll be competing with are getting stronger while we are entering a rebuilding process. If the canucks get rid of the players identified by people on this thread then expect a top five pick.
And that makes me happy. |

LA & BOS, ANA are big teams built for post season play (VAN are lightweights), CHI is skilled, gritty and a bit dirty which you need to be to have success.

Agreed. I'd like to see Bo playing 2C minutes this year but an all rookie 2nd line to start the year smells like a disaster |
