So Lidster should be fired because, the players could not execute?
UNPHUCKINGBELIEVEABLE. - rugdnit
I almost wonder if Sbisa would have played less or even been scratched had the coaches' boss not just signed him to a much scrutinized deal. It's a crazy theory and likely not true but I thought about it. |

It's a valid point. Honestly... Sbisa may just need a little time. Bieksa and Edler OTH have been given chance after chance... Yet Vancouver fans ran Lou and Schneider out of town.... Food for thought. |

So can we send him down for two milleniae then? |

Media availability at 10:15am tomorrow for the players, 12:30 for Benning and Linden. Should be interesting...
Questions is: does Sportsnet send a camera crew to the Roxy to let Kassian know that the Canucks have been knocked out of the playoffs? - PetrolSexual
No need to listen to excuses. We can just hit replay from their exit interviews three years ago. I already heard Hamhuis today say this is the best team he ever played for and they feel they could go really far |

As disappointing as it is, I felt the way the season ended pretty much negated most of the good will that the Canucks gave us in the regular season. Of all the times that the Canucks have broken our hearts, I don't know if there is a worse one than last night. I know the analysis has started and will continue for some time, but right now Im so f*cking disgusted at the way things unfolded yesterday that I don't even want to hear what the players have to say tomorrow.
Think about it - to let a 3 goal lead disappear in the matter of a few minutes in a ELIMINATION GAME. How is that f*cking possible? is there any team (good team) that would actually let such a lead slip away when they are in a do-die situation? But no, the Canucks and their porous defense (I want Sbisa, Weber, Edler, and even Bieksa all gone at this point) somehow managed to defy the odds and give the opposing team not only life but the that extra will to win
I loved what Bieksa has brought emotionally to this team, which is something I've really never seen with Edler, but the former is simply getting too slow and injury prone while the latter always seems to lack that passion/emotion which you desperately need for any kind of success. Someone else here on the board had a good analysis about how he is almost afraid to shoot on the powerplay or whifs in a muffin only to have it blocked and a turn over created. I know he had a much better season than last year but I think he, too, just needs a change of scenery as much as the Canucks do.
This loss is going to hurt probably almost as much as the Stanley Cup fiasco. I'm not sure if everyone will agree, but I can't get out of my mind/reconcile what happened last night. We were WELL on our way to a win if we had just clamped down on defense (although you will say 'what' defense which is partially correct - that said, most hockey people will tell you that anyone can learn how to play defense) and Miller was able to make that key save (again, for the record, the worst signing by the Canucks last year).
It's going to be a long summer, folks, and thinking what could of been
By the way, I know there is a bit of a tradition in chearing along the team that beat you. I'm sorry, I simply can't do that. I think the Flames are a good team and played very well but deep down inside I hope they get completely smoked by Anaheim - Zogg
You need to man up and give your balls a tug. One team out of thirty wins the Cup...ONE!! Your team has to be incredibly talented, have above average goaltending, be deep and lucky to win it all. We are no where near that.
Look at the teams that are out - Penguins, Blues & Predators...you're talking about Crosby, Malkin, Letang, Matta, Pekka Renne, Schwartz, Backes, Tarasenko , Stastny, Shattenkirk and Nashvilles defence which consists of Weber, Josi and Seth Jones.
The team was fun to watch but they're a lunch bucket group of tweeners. It's going to take time to draft and develop some kids, I like the last two drafts but you need to temper your expectations until we get a much better team.

Tank nation again? I don't think we make the playoffs next year unless Benning makes some major changes in the roster. |

More times than not players are lobbying to keep their job or their friends jobs.
I would be taking these exit interviews with a grain of salt.
It's very obvious what needs to happen here. Will MGT have the intestinal fortitude or will they cater to selling season tickets?
As much as I love my team I fear it's the latter. |

Not a chance we see this roster next year. There are too many good teams that need a shakeup and are looking for trade partners |

I am predicting a fair size trade will be done with Boston and Canucks , Pens and Canucks, Sharks and Canucks, Oilers and Canucks , and also maybe flyers |

I have to think the Blues are in a similar predicament as us...great regular season team with zero playoff success..gave up last year's first round pick to get miller and nothing...signed Stastny for big $$ and traded this year's number 1 for Michalek and they are out again, like us their window has closed - claygolf83
Blues did not get to the Stanley cup finals. As far as I can remember they are out in the first or second round each season. |

*tugging* nope, still no gold
All the feel good stories and excuses unfortunately aren't going to mitigate what was a complete disaster last night. Like I said, we will (or I think most of us will) remember this season based on the sheer collapse of Game 6 and not the semi- feel good story of the regular season. Even though I felt the Canucks were much more entertaining than last year, you have to make the absolute best out of every chance you get when you make the play-offs. Canucks did not do that and no excuse can be made of yesterday's debacle. None.
I realize the Canucks have a lack of talent and are still in the stages of developing younger and up and coming players, but none of that matters when it comes to what happened last night. Even a team with half the talent but twice the heart and will would NEVER have allowed what happened. We are talking about having ALL the momentum and being up by three goals. No matter what you make of things, it was a disgraceful end to a decent season. And for me, I tend to take the most recent result as a reflection of where a team is at. Therefore, I have a very bad taste in my mouth as to how it all played out.
As far as the future, who knows who will be here and who will be gone when next season rolls around. To me that is a very distant assessment to be made. Right now, however, and probably for quite a while, the 7-4 score is the first thing I'll remember when anyone asks about the Canucks season. Vancouver, despite its lack of overall talent and skill, had a fantastic opportunity only to completely blow it. That is as a result of philosophy/mentality and fortitude and has much less to do with actual talent (can you honestly say that you felt Calgary was that much more skiilled than the Canucks? if you're honest with yourself you will agree that was not the case, but rather the Flames will and desire to win at all costs was much greater than VAncouver's) |

Are you playing the short game of the long game?
Because those of us playing the long game could care less about the end result against Calgary. They are ahead of us in their rebuild. Get over it. |

Of course none of us know for sure, but my crystal ball goes like this.
Kassian to EDM or Bos
Higgins to Pens
Edler to Phi EDM NYI Buff
Miller to SJ or
Lack to Phil EDM SJ
Burrows to Mtl , NYR, Pens ANA
Tanev to EDM
Bieksa to who is ever foolish enough.
Markstom to anyone.
Matthias gone
Richardson gone
I don't expect all or even half of them but I would not be surprised if 3 or 4 happened |

I usually enjoy your posts, but this is drooling on yourself levels of idiocy. If you could care less about a playoff result, what the hell are you watching for? And as far as short or long game, none of us are playing either. We are all just sitting on our couches and watching what unfolds.
Management will take whatever view they choose, without regards to whatever we might want. We can either watch what they put in front of us, or turn the TV off. |
