As in the smelliest? - VANTEL
90% of top 4 NHL d-men were good offensive defensemen in junior. Even guys who aren't really point producers in the NHL today.
It's a waste to draft a junior player who isn't producing high-end offense in junior. |

The only person from the Canucks I really want gone is Edler. Everyone kept saying he had a great year this year. I disagree. He just didn't have a horrible season. He was average at best. It is beyond me how he can win our hardest shot competition sometimes, but can't even attempt to make a slap-shot or a one-timer. When he was on the point, it was like he wanted to wait with the puck until the defense had time to set up, and then flick a feeble wristshot into the closest defender's shin pads. WEAK pass outs from his own zone.. resulting in constant turnovers... resulting in game losing goals... cough cough.. last night... cough. His bodychecking has all but disappeared. He has all the time in the world to clear the puck from the corner, but constantly waits until a forechecker can get close to take it away. He is a special player, but I mean "special". He is NOT worth his contract, and if we could steal a higher 1st round pick at the draft by including him in a deal OH MY GOD PLEASE Jim, jump on it! Not just venting here... I have been a die-hard Canuck fan since 1990. I study the game. I watch more than just the Canucks. I am a hockey fan. I watch Edler. He sucks. |

With the top 3 picks up for grabs in the lottery, tanking will be almost pointless. Almost. |

I want Edler gone as well.
It's pretty even between Sbisa, Bieksa, and Edler.
I can't stand these guys play in our own zone.

Fully agree. Hartley was clearly the better coach in this series. - Alpha_Nuck
I hate that I agree with this, But its true. Why are the twins getting less minutes than Higgins.
Willie D seems a little to stubborn to change his ways
If the twins played more, I could still see us losing, But we would have had a better chance.
I love everything our coach brought to the table this year until the post season. |

Anyone still blaming the coach , needs to give their head a shake. Three coaches ,three years and same results.
The Sedins are two very talented offensive players( I wish they would shoot more) and Bo is the real deal. After that what do you have? The rest of the team is a bunch of mediocre players. Bo and the Twins can not play 60 minutes a night so you need to send someone out there .
Our D is reall not that good . Elder and Tanev ,our top pair would be 3/4 on good teams. We hang onto them as gold in the bank but they are good not great. One of them IMO should be traded . I know some here will say can you imagine what our D will look like without them? I would gladly replace one of them for a Boychuck or Engelland type. I did watch our and they stink. Not only Sbisa and Bieska. This is a very average D.
This is why I say everyone except the three mentioned should be trade eligible - VANTEL
Thank you Vantel for bringing some sanity back to this thread.
Hold WD accountable? For what?
Look what he had to work with.
Maybe this franchise loses so damn much because they have a million armchair GMs.
Too many chiefs....

You really don get it . You can not play the twins 60 minutes. To be successful you need to roll 4 lines. When it came to crunch he played the twins more.
He came into the league and everyone new he was a four line coach. If you don't want that don't hire him.
He played what he was given trying to get productivity out of the rest of the team is not a bad thing to do by any coach . - VANTEL
I am fine that our weaker players got exposed. It needed to happen. |

Jeff Paterson @patersonjeff
In the end, #Canucks had a better regular season than I expected and a poorer playoff than I expected
I understand this but really, for myself, I would say they had a poorer playoffs than I had hoped.
And that Dave Hodge outlook piece, how can you talk about the future and not even mention Virtanen or McCann? Hodge doesn't have a clue, another case of a guy forming or expressing an opinion based on back east "common knowledge" /misconception of what happening in the west.
I know that I don't agree with everything WD did. Don't know everything that happened behind the scenes, what the players were told, any adjustments attempted... some things worked, same result as previous seasons. Is this on the coach? I don't think so.
Tbh, I wonder if the problem was the Canucks taking their foot off the gas again after getting a lead. It has happened too many times with the same cast of characters. |

Don't be an ass. They played far more following game 4. I don't know why you're so fixated on placing 100% of the blame on the coach. It's never that simple. Anybody who thinks blaming one factor is correct is the one spewing garbage - bezz44
Maybe he's deflecting, so nobody will avoid attacking just how HORRIBLE Bieksa is.
I said it when Bieksa, Edler and Hamhuis were all injured-- Did we really miss Bieksa?
After this series-- Is there any doubt? Or you really want to blame the coach?
Players play-- And the players lost this series. Not WD. |

Who cares, Hodge is clearly senile. The whole article assumes that every team is going to make changes but the Canucks are going to roll out the same roster. I'll wait to see what Benning does this summer before writing the Canucks off for next season. |

His inability to make in series adjustments was the biggest reason we lost this series IMO. Every game is so important, the leashes have to be much shorter. Just look at Hartley last night. I know we scored the 3rd goal right after, but pulling Hiller after 2 goals was key to their comeback. Hiller had been excellent the entire series, but he felt his team needed a kick in the ass.
Miller did not look good at all last night. His positioning was off, the goals weren't great and even he admitted he was not 100%. With our season on the line, he needed to make an important adjustment and put Lack back in there. |

I have to think the Blues are in a similar predicament as us...great regular season team with zero playoff success..gave up last year's first round pick to get miller and nothing...signed Stastny for big $$ and traded this year's number 1 for Michalek and they are out again, like us their window has closed |
