Ed Wiles had a very good write up . The readers digest version is
Our D sucks and is very average at best
The drop off between the Sedins talent and the rest of the team is unexcusable
We need to get bigger and grittier so no names like Ferland don't rip us apart
Bo needs to be second line centre.
We need new faces - VANTEL
This is what I would like to see happen this off-season:
Draft/Before FA Period:
- Darft/Trade for a center that has the potential to be elite
- Stock the prospect cupboards at D and hopefully find someone who can be a #1D
- Trade Miller to recoup some cap space or trade Lack for picks and/or prospects
- Trade one of Bieksa/Hamhuis/Edler as part of a package to upgrade at D (preferably Bieksa)
Free Agency Period:
- Let Matthias, Richardson go as cap space is at a premium and they are too expensive for what they bring to the table.
- Resign our RFAs to reasonable bridge deals (no more than 2 years and re-evaluate at the end of the next year if they should be moved or kept long-term.
- Pull a Gillis and attempt to find cheap alternatives to both those players and have them play for the Comets as potential veteran call-ups in case of injury.
Training Camp/Pre-Season:
- Go in with the expectation that at least two (hopefully more) of Shinkaruk, Jensen, Gaunce, Baertschi, McCann, Virtanen, Cassels will make the team and don't be afraid to give them roles on the team.
- Have a plan to rotate the remaining older core out of the lineup (including the Sedins) during the season one at a time (or more) at various points to allow for rest/minor injury recovery and use call-ups from Utica more frenquently to give players above who didn't make the team out of camp NHL regular season experience. |

Well at least we aren't the Blues. Now that team is a disappointment. |

?Hamhuis? why should he be moved? that makes no sense. He is still our top dman... Bieksa should be retired or traded at draft day. we'll need
edler tanev
hamhuis weber
sbisa xxxx
forward lines
sedin sedin vrbata
burrows bonino xxxx
hansen horvat xxxx
dorsett xxxx xxxx
Maybe Kenins/ Baertschi get back in to the lineup, maybe not. we'll have some cap money if Richardson, Matthias, Higgins are not coming back to play with though. I'm hoping we spend it on a decent dman. can't have enough good d help. hopefully someone who can move the puck without coughing it up like edler.
I really think edler let us down in game 6 with his giveaways that lead to goals against... - kaptaan
I really hope Bonino isn't our 2nd line centre again. Guy is sooooo slow and has zero physical presence. He's still a great trade piece for teams that need help with the cap. I'd like to see him gone by next year personally. Bo Can handle the 2nd line spot |

How's the hysteria levels today?
Has Benning, Linden & Desjardins been fired yet?
Has the entire Comets roster been promoted to start with the big club next year? |

1.9 mil for bones as a 3rd line center is great. with WD it doesnt really matter lines cause they all play so evenly after higgins gets his ice of course. |

From ESPN, only they didn't address size and grit. Vantel will like this.
Vancouver Canucks Offseason Priorities: 1. Start rebuilding their defense – could start by moving Kevin Bieksa or Dan Hamhuis and get younger. They have no-trade clauses and like Vancouver. Both will be UFAs after next season. 2. Trade a goalie – Eddie Lack has shown he can be an effective starter. Ryan Miller has two-years left at $6 million per. Jacob Markstrom is a RFA and could get some trade interest. 3. Create room for youth – may mean trading someone like Christopher Higgins for futures, opening up a spot for Sven Baertschi or Jake Virtanen. |

We've all lost our poop over this team at one time or another. I remember an epic rant from Scooby after the game 7 loss to Boston. It's understandable. This franchise can drive fans crazy with their inconsistency.
I've learned that you need to have incredibly thick skin to be a canuck fan.
Edit: when the (frank) did you become a Season Ticket Holder? |

Great post though I would prioritize finding a 1D over a 1C |

Agreed..I've lost it a few times and may again if they don't make the changes I'd like to see this summer, at least some of them.
I surf on my iPad and the adds were driving me crazy, so I pony'd up - add free now |

Anyone still blaming the coach , needs to give their head a shake. Three coaches ,three years and same results.
The Sedins are two very talented offensive players( I wish they would shoot more) and Bo is the real deal. After that what do you have? The rest of the team is a bunch of mediocre players. Bo and the Twins can not play 60 minutes a night so you need to send someone out there .
Our D is reall not that good . Elder and Tanev ,our top pair would be 3/4 on good teams. We hang onto them as gold in the bank but they are good not great. One of them IMO should be traded . I know some here will say can you imagine what our D will look like without them? I would gladly replace one of them for a Boychuck or Engelland type. I did watch our and they stink. Not only Sbisa and Bieska. This is a very average D.
This is why I say everyone except the three mentioned should be trade eligible - VANTEL
I think you hit the nail on the head here.

Bloatsie, honest question, would you rather have the inconsistency and associated disappointment/frustration ... or would you rather just be a fan of a team that is a perpetual, epic, sh1t show?
