Someone mentioned on GR and they talked a bit . If the Oil took Hannifin the draft would have to take a time out to get it back together.

I can't see the Oilers moving the pick but that's my opinion.

No GM wants to trade the guy who's gonna be the next Crosby. If there is even a chance he is, which most accounts say he is that good it would be GM suicide

Ennis isn't the second coming to any player so everyone should be available in trade talks.
- SABRES 89

Agree.

While I would not want to trade him, any trade that makes our team better should be made, if possible.

Except Zemgus!!!

Whatever makes this team better is what should be done and as of now, it starts with Eichel.

No problem. If they just picked someone else it would cause mayhem. With the Oil ? Ya never know. I'm thinking they pick Mcdavid.

No thinking about it, they are 1000% taking McDavid. We got screwed again but nothing we can do about it.

Sucks but we could be better than them in 2 years anyways.

I'm listening but take Ennis out - substitute Hodgson and more future first rounders .
- Der Kaiser

If they could somehow do a trade with Edmonton, I would try to keep Zadorov, and put Reinhart in there instead.

Ennis, Reinhart, Girgorenko, NYIs first, and our 1st next year. And I would do that in a heartbeat.

It starts with both our 1st round picks we have this year, forget next year they don't need picks. IMO even that won't get the Oilers to trade the pick.

EDM wouldn't trade the #1 this year for Gretzky in his prime. The management is that (frank)ing stupid.

And its not surprising, since they manage the team that...traded Gretzky in his prime(ish).

The Oilers were or are a mess but, I don't think I would trade the pick either.

Kane/Eichel/Ennis
Moulson/Reinhart/Backes

Or

Kane/Eichel/Oshie
Moulson/Reinhart/Ennis

I'd choose option A but that's just me.

- dadeadhead

If we're trading for Backes or Oshie, and not giving up Ennis, what would they want from us?
Don't forget, not only would the deal have to make sense, but we'd also have to outbid teams like Toronto (and prob quite a few more) that would also want one of them... I could see a Kessel for Oshie or Backes trade happen
I'd offer sheet Tarasenko in a heartbeat, by there's no way StL wouldn't match.
Chicago is gonna be in trouble
Bickell will def be traded, and I think he could be a good player with more icetime. Tough to see them not matching Saad, but if it's a big enough # they'd have to at least think twice. Shaw is a guy I like from them that could be available. Esp if we offer sheet him. They're prob hoping to pay him something like 2mil for the next 2yrs... We offer him 3mil per & that could mess them up a bit.

Boston is still the most obvious target though.
Take Savard off their hands & we could get a nice asset for cheap from them I'd think. Marchand would be a guy I'd certainly inquire about.

For all his goals Toronto has made the playoffs once in his time there.

This is why you don't pay a guy that kind of coin.

No matter how anyone wants to shake it you trade for Kessel he becomes the face do to his salary. Like it or not.

I want no part of him being involved in teaching the kids. His leadership qualities IMO suck a fat babies d!ck.

- dadeadhead

The only reason I'd trade for Kessel is if we got him cheap
And I mean, Hodgson + our NYi pick
For that, I'd be willng to see if he can get his act together.
If not, we'd still be able to trade him somewhere for something decent.
All that said,
Someone will make a better offer than I suggested.
ROR from the AVs, or possibly someone like Huberdeau from Florida.
I think Arizona should take a shot at him.
I wonder if Edmonton would?
Why did Boston trade him to the leafs in the first place?
I think now that Chirelli is with the Oilers, he will def try to bring in Chara or Lucic, or both... Kind of ironic that the GM that got Boston in so much Cap trouble could end up being someone that helps bail them out now

if Oshie did not take 213 shootout attempts vs russia, would he be so sought after by some?

none of us know murray's timetable to upgrade the roster, but my guess is it's sooner rather then later

when this happens people will be pissed because picks and or prospects are shipped out

My bad, I thought he was an RFA as well
He def won't be moved this offseason. His cap# is very reasonable

No. He's not that good. 21 goals career high, disappears in the playoffs. The idea you could get Kessel for Oshie is laughable.

Idk about that
We don't have any prospects right now that other teams would covet, not for a top line player
I don't want most of the guys ppl are mentioning anyways...
But just as an example,
Who would StL want for Backes?
It's gonna be Reinhart or Ennis or Girgensons... Or someone like that
I doubt it's gonna be Grigorenko or Bailey or Compher, etc
It won't be easy for Murray to make a deal like that
Larsson may have looked good at the end of the season, but not good enough to be a main piece a team would want back for a guy like O'Reilly, Kessel, Oshie or any other top line winger
MAYBE we can come up with a combo for a team that's desperate BC of the Cap, but I really think that's the only way we land someone significant this offseason

I also suspect Murray might be willing to dangle Zads, and that other teams might be willing to throw big value this way in exchange

I don't think the kid did a lot to endear himself to the franchise last season.

He definitely didn't. I think he will be a piece involved in any trade that nets a top-6 winger.
