I read it. Don't agree with it.

There is a huge middle ground from where we are, to "wanting to be like Darcy"

Straw man arguments

- sbroads24

All morning you've been posting about how you don't want to give up anything. Whether it be prospects, picks, whatever.

Well, this team as is is not going to cut it. And you have to give to get.

By wanting something in return for nothing, you have the same mentality that Regier had which is why the team is currently in the state it's in.

I just thank my lucky stars that you are not our GM.

Welcome to the draft.....
- sbroads24

Welcome to the fact that this team built as it is now is no where near Stanley Cup contenders. You need to add good NHL players. You do that by trading players, prospects and picks. Not by waiting for players to maybe pan out. Welcome to last place yet again.

Yes, because we totally won't be relevant until our 2nd 1st comes up.
- Herzeleid

Here's the logic

Our 1st rounder is the make or break piece because we need a top 6 forward, but it will probably be a bust anyways or take years to pan out, BUT....Some team will gladly give up a really good player for the pick

For any forward too.

We need to get one this year otherwise they will never be available again

- sbroads24

Just keep the pick try and get the the best offensive Dman available.

We shouldn't be trading any of our current good D prospects.

We don't need another top6 winger, we have 3 of them in Kane, Moulson, and Ennis, and Hodgson and Grigs to fill the last spot. You could even use Girgs in the top 6 for next year. We don't need a temporary top6 winger at the expense of a 1st round pick and good prospects.

David Backes.

He's not Canadian though so not sure Murray would be interested.

We need a true top line RW. That's assuming Kane is the top line LW. We do in fact need more top end wingers.

And waiting 3-5 years for them to develop which counters your 2-3 year Stanley Cup Contenders argument. Keep talking in circles you're GREAT at it.

That's a long time to wait.

We're only a quarter of the way there.

Just curious.. what are you looking to give up for top line talent. Specifically.

I also didn't realize that someone like TJ Oshie or Ryan O'Reilly would either. It works both ways
- sbroads24

This makes no sense?

Oshie or ROR would dismantle are future by giving up a first and second round pick for them.

How many good, true top line RW players are available that we would be able to make a deal for?

And I've seen almost all of you guys mention top6 winger in the trade for our first.

Hey do you think that we could substitute the 1st rounder with like a 5th rounder? I mean, they are all busts so whats really the difference?

Kessel comes to mind. It would cost more but not something that would bleed us dry.
