I think the Nucks are much further ahead of when you guys traded Iginla, because we've already got four first round picks in the past two years, including a 9th overall and a 6th overall. IMO the difference is we had vets which allowed us to keep those kids in a development mode.
The thing that's handcuffing the team is the NTC's handed out by Mike Gillis, you guys don't have to deal with those. I do agree your depth players have been very good and your defence is miles ahead of ours at this point. - LeftCoaster
Burke & Treliving are at loathe to hand out NTC's. Benning needs to ask guys for lists this summer. |

I'm intrigued. What does any of this have to do with the Leafs? You really shouldn't be comparing anything to the Leafs (if you want to be successful).
Vancouver has to do this their way and not worry about the big bad Leafs, living in their shadow, Darren Dreger, Dave Nonis, early starts when the Leafs are in town, Brian Burke, Dion Phaneuf or anything else remotely connected to the Leafs. Canucks have to solely concentrate on their own rebuild/retool/retweak/first build etc. - walshyleafsfan
You are mostly right. I was making the comparrison because over they years Leafs have fallen short and were dumb enough to hang on to a bad team and hope it got better. This year they finally got someone in there that reaized this team stinks and decided to tear it down and take off the blinders.
We missed that opportunity to do the same thing this year . That's the only thing I ws getting at. |

The first round pick is all we would want from that...so no.
But you guys can have Reimer 3rd round pick and a C+/B- prospect and you have a deal. |

Benning has been a disaster. The only good thing he has done is pick up Vrbata.
He should have waited out Kesler; he could have got much more in March. Sure he was a cancer in the room but who cares.
Next mistake. He should have traded Sbisa, Dorsett and Tanev instead of extending them.
Miller was a huge mistake. his biggest of all.
Now we are screwed for 5 years. You never get anywhere by overpaying mediocre players. - Grumpy13
He had to get rid of Kelser when he did. He was limited to one team and did a great job. Trading Tanev and Dorsett would have been a horrible idea.
He's going to have hits and misses throughout his time here, (Miller contract, resigning of Sbisa I'd agree on) but to say he's been a disaster is complete lunacy - especially after only a single season.

Yes. Completely agree. Last summer we didn't like the idea of trying to make the playoffs because, we knew where it would lead-- Here.
I liked the look of the team when Edler, Bieksa and Hamhuis were all out due to injury.
Clendening and Biega helped hold the fort when things could have gone south in a hurry.
I hope this is the beginning of the end for Bieksa and Edler ( Though I think we are stuck with Edler ). |

And yet we still hear Darren Dreger sing their praises. He will be reaching for stuff to leak now that his fat bastard cousin got canned. |

Toronto's in a complete rebuild mode. Why would they take on a 34 year old goaltender who makes 6 mil per season?

Botch in the Province this morning.
"A. Trade 3 for a second and a prospect. (Douglas Murray was 33, washed, on an expiring and and he went for two seconds at the 2013 deadline so I believe this is possible). Trade 20 for a second. Trade the rights to 27. Trade 6 for a second.
I’d think about trading 14 or 36, but you’re not replacing them and there’s no one really ready to play that kind of game in the organization.
I’d listen on Miller, but free agency looks bleak so not like you can spend the money. Probably better to share the workload next year before officially passing the torch from Miller to Lack.
Plan to give Virtanen, Shinkaruk and Baertschi every chance to make the team.
B. Or go with the PA Plan. Trade Bieksa, Lack, Horvat, Kassian, Tanev and get Hanzal and get Chris Stewart." - LeftCoaster
I see Sven as the third line winger playing with Hansen next year.
I also don't see JV being sent back to JRs soi can see him being given 4 th line minutes seeing WD rolls 4 lines |

I found myself cheering for it to go to OT and to a game 7, just because it was a very entertaining series. I'd love to see a rematch next year. |

Its been the character guys that have made the difference, something the Oilers have yet to figure out... You have a good one in Bo and honestly the Sedin's still cause fits. Its figuring out the intangibles. Wideman amd Russell were lights out for us and even Engellend stepped up when Gio went down. Ferland was up and down all year but found his niche. Hartley said its the best group of athletes he's ever worked with and the best group of people. The dressing room is tight...
Bo is a f'n stud and you guys have a few good pieces. You are where the Flames were when Iggy was Dealt. Prepare for some tough times but in the end it'll be worth if management does their job... Just don't Oiler it... - geta02it
Thank you for being a good sport while here. As much as hating the flames is in out DNA, they really deserved to win this series. I hope they give the Ducks a run. |

Stuck with both, the defence stinks. Up 3-0 and losing was embarrassing. Calgary scored at will. |

If he comes to camp and earns it, I can see him on the fourth line with 8 to 10 minutes. He's gotta earn it though. I wanna see what McCann can do at camp. |

One would hope career AHLer Jensen could make a move. The second coming of Patrick White.

A lot of holes to fill. Whoever isn't listed should be traded.
Jensen, Corrado, and Grenier should be afforded a real shot to make the team.
We're not going to win with Bieksa, Higgins, Miller, Sbisa cause they take up more capspace than they're worth. - Gullzy[/quote

Don't really have any players to do that…you work with what you've got. Anaheim is a much heavier team and they've got a much deeper forward and defensive group. |
