Defensman are hard to develop , Hanifin and Reily could look good as a top pairing in a not so distant futur.
- Alexzanki

yeah for sure. and even if they don't live up to the billing of Top Pairing, they're taking over for Dion and Franson so it's a win-win

It was a joke but He traded from 14 to 22 to select Jank.

Girgensons
Ceci
Wilson
Hertl
Teravainen
Vasilevski

all selected in that range he traded down to. Not looking like a good move anyway you look at it.

- DDM-Coga

This might also come down to how Pat Sieloff turns out too. Feaster traded down to add a second round pick which was Sieloff. Only time will tell. Sieloff's injury last year set him back, after he had pretty much made this team out of training camp. Only time will tell

I said "probably" going to be better, never stated anything. So far the evidence points towards him being better.

And for Kessel is a perennial top 10 scorer who was on pace for the same until the coaching change. He could easily return to form next year. Domi is unproven and he wasn't even as good as Marner this year even though he's 2 years older.

- HealthyScratch6

He "could" return to form next year, and I hope he does. But looking in the eyes of another team, are they willing to take that chance? Leafs were burned when we thought Raycroft "could" return to form as well. Rest of that story is sad history.

So many players have been given a chance to "return to form", but have stayed the course on their downhill descent that I don't think there is a team willing to pay top dollar with that gamble.

Not saying its not possible for Kessel, however I don't think its possible you will find a team willing to take the chance and pay any sort of premium.

Well I wasn't saying that Arizona should make this deal. Kessel doesn't make any sense for them as a rebuilding team. I just said that it was a bad trade for Toronto. I think the leafs should hold onto him in hopes that he rebounds instead of trading him when his value is at an all time low.

Thats the point, you could have picked Jankowski with that extra 2nd round pick or picked him with your own 2nd. Those guys listed all have made NHL debuts. It might turn into an ok move if the flames ever make the show.

But just was bad asset management by feaster, and then he had that quote afterwards, good on him for being ballsy but now he just looks like an idiot for saying that.

Cant go off the board in the 1st round picking a high school hockey player and then said he will be the best player in the draft. Just is crazy talk to be said on live TV

Sign Dougie to an offer sheet while you are at it. Better do it fast before Chiarelli gets hired in EDM, hires Julien, and then signs Hamilton to a massive offer sheet.

On the plus side, the compensation from EDM would be substantial. Considering their knack for landing 1st overall picks.

evidence?

what evidence? pretty sure strome had more goals and points.....not by much, but still more.

not sure what "evidence" you're looking at......almost every single scout in existence has strome ranked comfortably ahead of marner......most have crouse ranked ahead of him aswell....including the final central scouting rankings

He has to play with another swede or there is no chemistry.

So I guess Landy?

My guess, way too much. Just for the pick switch would be at least the Leafs 4th, Leafs Nashville 1st pick, plus maybe Phaneuf. Now talking Domi, your getting into maybe Kadri, Percy and next years 1st?? Even that is probably too little.

That's just a guess and I could be way out there, but bottom line, it would be expensive.

Leafs management should be looking more at ways to get a couple more first round picks as opposed to flipping one.

- Cochise

Let me get this straight...you think it will cost the #4 pick, another 1st and Phaneuf JUST to move up to #3? That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever read on here, and I've been here a long time.

Shouldn't cost much at all to move up to three. Hanafin, Strome and Marner are all equally as good it's just all preference.

Marners regular season 2 ppg
Strome regular season 1.9 ppg while not playing against other teams top D pairing or shut down players. and it dropped to 1.5 with McDavid out of the lineup

Marners playoffs 2.3 ppg before he got hurt
Strome playoffs 1.2 ppg still not facing other teams top defensive players.

I just think Strome has inflated numbers playing behind McDavid
