My guess, way too much. Just for the pick switch would be at least the Leafs 4th, Leafs Nashville 1st pick, plus maybe Phaneuf. Now talking Domi, your getting into maybe Kadri, Percy and next years 1st?? Even that is probably too little.

That's just a guess and I could be way out there, but bottom line, it would be expensive.

Leafs management should be looking more at ways to get a couple more first round picks as opposed to flipping one.

Totally disagree. Kessel's performance this year had very little to do with his skillset declining but rather was a product of his environment - a very dysfunctional one.

His value hasn't been affected one bit by this year. He's still a patrick kane without a toews. GM's will see this and will pay up.

You're definitely not ONLY as good as your last performance. Guys have off years. Doesn't mean he'll be treated likea 25-goal scorer. But this year DEFINITELY hurt his trade value.

Definitely lower than it has been but every single player on the leafs went through the same thing as soon as they made Horachek head coach. rather keep Kessel for another year so he can get his value back up under a new coach than give him away for a shot a player who had worst stats than the guy supposed to go 5th.

Like I said I don't think he's as bad as he showed last year, but it still makes his value take a hit, and when you add that to his contact (albeit not an awful one), and his love of cake and cookies I think you'll be disappointed at the return you get.

Edit: Also of note, Kane almost never plays on a line with Toews. Unless you were implying Kessel just needs a really good friend,

he's been a top 10 scorer for a while, and where has it gotten us? Hold on to him out of principal all you want, but in the end, taking even a 2nd rounder for him is worth more to our rebuild than keeping him.

It's like holding a stock you bought at $10 all the way to zero, when you could have gotten out at $5, $4, $3, $2, $1 and lived to fight another day
