I got some odd looks when I burst out laughing over the DirecTV Bryan Bickell.
JJ is bringing the lumber with the jokes today. Which is amazing to me since I can barely keep my eyes open. - Sandus

Versteeg won't take a hit to make a play. Most selfish hockey player I've seen here in a long time. Guys (and gals) will say he plays best with Kane. Well no poop, who wouldn't? - 6628
someone needs to slap him in the face and tell him it's OK to dump the puck in if you feel pressure, you don't have to dangle and turn over the puck. It's really frustrating |

I get to chaperone my middle school dance tonight! Yay! Though I do enjoy laughing at the awkwardness of middle school dances... |

I think this series is a lot harder than what was imagined going in.
The double OT was great. Nothing like late night games. I hope there's a couple more in this series before it's over. |

I don't think any Hawks fan thought it would be a blowout. Most wanted to play the Preds because they were scuffling at the end of the year, but so were the Hawks.
BTW-Read the Preds blog. Wow, learned a lot
-Hawks were gifted powerplays last night
-Hawks fans complain about refs (no other fan base does)
-Nashville should be up 3-1 in series
Added the stock attack on 'fair weather fans' and it was fun reading. |

So first off wow. What a game.
Dracula is doing a good job getting buy in for his game plan which is giving the Hawks some fits. Towards the end of the third though the Hawks depth really started to shine through (at forward at least).
Nashville has a well rounded team but thankfully not enough top end talent to go around. Hopefully they can end this series tomorrow.
The shot charts and especially the corsi vs time graph at war on the ice is pretty silly. Scoring changes were relatively close but past the 50 minute mark the Hawks kept sustained pressure (pucks directed towards the net wise) while Nashville tapered off.
Hossa decided to call upon the power of Grayskull again and his faithful sidekick Battle Cat scored a nice goal to tie it at the end. Man at Arms was too busy winning draws and getting molested in the corners to join the Eternia party but someone had to do the dirty work.
Before you ask yes Versteeg is the calamitous Orko |

I find the biggest bashers are actually fans of other teams other than the predators. It's Kings and Flyers fans being salty. Flyer fan was bashing our fans. Is that a joke? And King fan basically saying refs gave us two gift powerplays. Again, another joke.
One of the Predators PP in OT was when Forsberg got the delay of game penalty. It sucks, but that's legit. No mention of the CLEAR tripping that were NOT called on plays against Shaw and Versteeg and even on Desi's near score he was taken down. Hawks won anyway....that's how champions roll I guess.
Predators fans didn't seem to be ingrates. |

Sorry if this has already been posted, but I just came across this article and thought it was very interesting interesting.
Good words from Carcillo. It's a shame that in hockey (and most pro sports) the outreach programs are pretty much nonexistent for these guys when they leave the game.

Just read a story on Raanta; wouldn't it be better for him to play in Rockford? It would give management a better understanding of his ability to play in Series Playoffs, and they can call him to Chicago if Darling/Crawford got injured. |

That blog averagesess than 30 comments when its not Hawks related. He had the nerve to say "little read Chicago beat reporters..."
He gets no traction unless its Hawks related. Hell JJ was almost 50% of his convo over there today.

It's a good point. However, I believe that teams have to declare playoff rosters, and are limited on emergency call-ups, if I'm not mistaken. It's some relation to that.
That's why Raanta is up, and not playing in Rockford. |

Good Omen: So after I got home yesterday from work I had the house to myself and decided to sit back in the FR and pull up videos of the 'Hawks playoff OT winners from the past several years:
Kane's 2010 cup winner,
Hoss 2010 in 1st round,
Ben Smith in 2011 vs the Nux to force a game-7,
Seabrook's OT vs Det in 2013,
Kane's 2OT vs LA in 2013,
Shaw's 3OT vs the B's in the '13 cup final and
Seabrook's OT also in the '13 cup final.
Then for good measure, 2 goals in 17 seconds!
That was about 2 hours before game-4 puck drop. Little did I know that game would also go into 3OT, ending at the 1 minute mark on a Seabrook slapshot from the deep slot from a Kaner (who else) feed, at 1:15am.
LETS GO HAWKS!
What is with the blogger for the other team? I'd say go there and read it but then he gets clicks credit. Suffice to say, "whoa is me, whoa is us, yadda, yadda, yadda". I can't even bring myself to give him the satisfaction of posting anything.
I sure hope that whoever is the 2nd round opponent, we don't have to deal with the same crap. What an inferiority complex.
LETS GO HAWKS! - blackhawk24
Thanks for reminding me! I had made a list of these a little bit ago so I updated it now in case anyone wants to go back and enjoy! (Let me know if i missed any)

Thanks for posting and letting me waste some serious time at work. Amazed to see how many of the winners had Bickell involved...not just scoring but in the middle of the play that actually won the game.... |

"But Seabrook’s goal probably doesn’t happen without Bryan Bickell blotting out the sun in front of Pekka Rinne."
JJ - PLEASE, PLEASE tell me you are as fed up as I am with this PP. It's time to put #29 in front of the net (among other tweaks).
Why can't the Hawks have as much drive with the man advantage as they do 5-on-5. They lull themselves into a coma and give an irritated staredown when an opponent takes it away. - TyCamScore
And why not Seabrook on the PP!

- PuckMaster
For all of us complaining about Keith on the PP if you really watch the breakout and zone entries on the PP, Seabrook is actually worse than Keith at it. If and when they are able to get into the zone, Seabrook has a better, heavier shot, but until the point when they can consistently gain zone entry, Keith is just better.
(I never thought I would be saying that, but recent observation seems to suggest this) |

The point of my criticism over the years with Keith on the 1st unit and not Seabrook is because of his inability to get shots through...Zone entries shouldn't be on the point men alone as there is no question who can carry the puck better. Interesting they are not used together.
