I'd have him as my number two behind Babcock.

After that don't really care who gets it. Julien, Bylsma, Moustache man, or Deboer.

Deboeer is interesting. Don't know too much about him

Neither do I.

Organization just needs to get its head out of the ass and decide on a philosophy. If you stick with this boring defense first BS, then get a coach who preaches it and players accordingly.

Far too much back and forth since the Tampa loss in ECF.

10 coaches in 20 years. It's laughable, really. The fact that they win games as frequently as they have until this inevitable transition phase is remarkable, in some ways

I prefer to imagine that Cashman and Barber never coached the Flyers. I'll also believe that Craig Ramsey was only coach on an interim basis.

Meh, there is some stuff to be excited about. Hagg, Ghost, Morin, Sanheim and Fazleev along with who ever they take this year.

Giroux, Voracek, Mason and Simmonds are alright too.

The future has some hope for sure, but for now, who really gives a (frank)?

This is the first year in quite awhile, that I actually have a positive outlook moving forward. We still need to see how Hextall plays things out, but so far, it seems like he has them headed in the right direction!

So Craig Button has the Flyers drafting Rantanen with Provorov still on the board. I don't think he will be but if he is that's one hell of a pass.

The way I see it, in the nhl there are two types of coaches, teaching coaches and finishing coaches. The teaching coach instills defense and discipline, the finishing coach takes that and maximizes offensive potential. With berube having preached defense and discipline, now is a great time for a finishing coach and I'd be thrilled with McLellan.

One knock on Rantanen I've heard is skating. Worries me a touch even if I am a big fan.

I have Provorov ahead of Rantanen but only by a small margin. They're both great prospects who could play in the the NHL next season.

I'd be happy with either. I'm a big fan of Finns/Swedes, so I'd take Rantanen. But really, anyone but Crouse would be good with me.

I think there's a problem, but it's not laughable. The Blackhawks have 10 coaches in the past 20 years. The Kings have 9 in 20 years. The Sharks have 7 in 20. Rangers have 9 in 20. The Ducks have 9 in 20. Our number really isn't insane.

One other thing to keep in mind is that, like Hagg, Rantanen could play up to 2 years in the AHL without his ELC kicking in, whereas Proporov either has to play in the NHL or juniors over that span.

Button has Barzal going 14th
I usually like Button's mocks, but that's a little silly.

Every single year every mock draft has the Flyers picking the big, hard hitting guys with the same "HE'S A NATURAL FLYERS TYPE PLAYER!" explanation and I hate it strongly.

Also Niittymaki works for Rantanen's team TPS in Finland, so if they pick him it's based on a Flyers scout watching every game.

He's big and the "prototypical Flyer." He has decent hands, but doesn't drive offense. He's basically a younger Scott Hartnell-type.

Question marks over hockey sense and actual offensive upside.

He's good overall, but he sometimes get weird ideas about where certain players will go. Like when he spent the second half of the 2013 first round getting increasingly upset as teams ignored Fucale. Turns out those teams knew what they were doing.

That really doesn't sound like a bad player. The way everybody's talking, he sounds like an inevitable Luke Schenn level disappointment.

I like TPS a lot. They produce a lot of good NHLers (including Timonen), and Turku is a good town. I'd be okay with Rantanen, but would rather see them take Barzal, Provorov, or the inevitable slipping player from above our pick.

I guess I find it odd that so many are worried about drafting him, yet he's in that conversation for being a top 10ish pick. I never see anybody say anything outright good about him.

For the record, I didn't watch a lick of juniors this year.

I don't think he will be. He plays the game with a level of intensity that isn't something to just forget.

My issue anyway, is that on a team where only really Giroux, Voracek and MDZ having the ability to carry and handle the puck up the ice consistently..

A guy with some more skill may be a better choice.
