They should have gone back to Boucher after game 5. At least then if we had lost game 6 at home it wouldn't have been with that AHL fraud in net.

How about Virtanen and Eriksson for Luke Schenn and the TB pick?

The memory of the Boston comeback, particularly game 7, is so vivd in memory. The sting of losing in those finals still hurts for me. If they'd won, it obviously wouldn't change the current reality of the team. It'd still be an enormous lift for me though.

Of course, I can only speak for myself.

Turn around the blown multi-goal leads in Game 1 vs Chicago, and have Carter score instead of missing in OT of Game 6 before Kane's goal: the Flyers are champions.

Turn around OT of Game 4 against Boston: The Flyers get swept in the second round after entering the season as THN's pick to win the Cup and then barely squeaking into the playoffs on a final-day shootout.

That's how narrow the margin really is. It can drive you nuts.

Bottom line is that the Cup is exceedingly tough to win, and every franchise in the league has gone through very long droughts at some point in their history.

Fixed. Thanks.

I only remember that as well as I do because I edited an article about the city of Edmonton running out of alcohol during that playoffs (and, Pronger's penalty shot goal).

I just saw Burrows (deservingly) got the instigator last night at 18:35 of the third. By rule, he will be automatically suspended one game, correct?

Or, have the Rangers win in the shootout of Game 82, they don't even make it. And the suicide rate of this board skyrockets.

All them Canadian teams gooning it up in the playoffs.

Disgraceful how they've tainted "our game."

Yes -- Instigator in last five minutes of game -- but then again, who knows with the NHL anymore.

It's really the only nasty series. The Montreal-Ottawa series has been physical, but not dirty (aside from Subban's Paul Bunyan impression). I wish the Calgary/Vancouver series came on before 10:00 every night though.

Well, they "rescinded" Malkin's instigator in 2008, but they upheld Craig Adams' in 2012, so...yeah, who knows.

you want to give me a waste of money and the 25th pick for a 6th and a career back up? lol no can't. Van has too many D that make too much money.

You see, my offer was not serious. It was to show you how horrible your offer was by giving you an equally lopsided offer. Edler and Hamhuis have had their value plummet over the past few years.

I hear ya there.

They should be forced to play weekend brunch at noon games (3pm EST) just like the Flyers had to play them silly afternoon games last season.

I guess, then, it will all come down to how much of a "star" the NHL feels Burrows is.

Remember when Shea Weber only got a fine for grabbing the back of Zetterberg's head and slamming it into the glass.

Oh, NHL discipline: Clear, concise, consistent.

OT, but I'd be really happy if:

1) Jack Eichel, after the Sabres GM saying sorry to the fans for having to settle for him, decides to play out the 5 total years of NCAA hockey and then signs with another team a la Justin Schultz.

2) Connor McDavid pulls a Lindros stating that he feels like the Oilers are ill-suited to building a winning franchise and is traded to a team that is not Buffalo.

I agree that Weber should have been suspended, and I'm a huge Weber fan.

However, not apples to apples. That was at least up for argument. Burrows violated a particular rule which has a mandatory punishment.

Well -- "Mandatory" punishment -- unless the league decides that some punishments are more mandatory than others.

I think there's some sort of Animal Farm ideology hidden in there somewhere.

What kind of system does McLellan run? Or is it variable to his roster?

If I am correct, offensive first.

None of that d-first trash that's perverted the league so much.

I think it is offensive oriented. Lots of pucks on net from all angels.

An aggressive defense that limits time and space.

I can't honestly say I have seen them enough to discuss that in great detail, by I have always admired how young players seemed to improve while he was there, at first glance

I have read he believes strongly in puck possession, but that is something many coaches do.

Keep reading he might be a fit in Edmonton, so hopefully, if the Flyers even have interest, he will listen to what they have to say

I'd have him as my number two behind Babcock.

After that don't really care who gets it. Julien, Bylsma, Moustache man, or Deboer.
