Will say, if anyone wants to see a loud crowd, that Anaheim/Jets game starts in 30 min I believe.

Hard not to get caught up in a bit of the excitement, as the city is buzzing. Havent seen the energy like this since moving here in '97.

Will be a 'white-out' in the stands.

Good for them. Talk about two different worlds atlanta and Winnipeg sheesh. Atlanta should be excommunicated from the nhl How did one of the worst sports cities get to host the Olympics?

Bustin on the ATL? Why would you say it's a bad sports city?

I don't know, maybe because even when they were winning divisions and going to World Series', the Braves still couldn't sell out their playoff games?

It's a city of mostly transplants in an area where nascar is #1. They have to pump crowd noise into their poopty football stadium Bc their crowd can't do the job. See the Braves post below mine. They couldn't hold onto two nhl teams now. Hawks attendance is brutal win or lose. Pretty bad

Fine, you lost TWO, TWO NHL franchises. Remind me how many other cities lay claim to that distinction?

Because it is. Terrible sports city, well to be more specific, a terrible PRO sports city. They love their Bulldogs.

It was very annoying because it was the closest place for me to watch a game and not very expensive to get good seats. I got to go to two games there and they started sending me emails about being a season ticket holder.

NFL - Southern's are Huge Football fans, but they prefer to watch on Saturdays i.e. they are college football fans - much more than Northerns. I'm a Northern. I'd much rather go to a U of Georgia game than Falcons.

MLB - The stadium is not in a safe neighborhood, it is moving to the burbs... The fans base is in the burbs. The attendance will raise. Baseball is a dying sport.

NBA - Good following

NHL - There are a lot of fans - tons of fans. The problem is that ATL is a transplant city, nobody is from ATL. The fans are loyal to their previous teams, not the new one. I liked the Thrashers, but my blood runs O&B. I saw a couple NY rags and Philly games - their was more "away" fans than home (but they all lived in ATL). Having too many transplants (especially with a losing mismanaged team) was the Thrasher down fall. Your not going to sell season tickets and fill seat for a Phx or Calgary games. Not to mention again, the stadium local sux'ed. If it was in the burbs and the team won (not mismanaged - the Coburn trade?), the team would have gathered a following like Nas or Carolina.

after STL chokes again, if Hitch gets fired, where do rank him among the other coaching options?

I like your list, I really don't think Hitch has a shot at being hired again. I would put Julien, who looks like dead man walking above Deboer.

Do you think he's NHL ready? Looks like he's only been a head coach for 3 years now, and never coached outside of the OHL.
