The Canes defense isn't great, but they do have Faulk, who is close to being a legit number one within the next couple years. Murphy is a good youngster and a guy like Hainsey is a solid depth veteran. They also have McKeown and Fleury in the system.
They could use a guy like MacDonald to solidify the current roster, but why trade down to add him, when you could add a guy like Paul Martin as a UFA? Or if they want to trade down, do it to the teens and target a guy like Chabot or Zboril and get a better player than AMac in the deal - Jsaquella

Depends who is there for me. If Barzal goes to NJ at 6, I take Provorov at 7-assuming McDavid-Eichel-Hanifin-Strome-Marner go top 5-and then probably focus on F with TB pick - Jsaquella
That goes without saying. Still will be plenty of forwards later to look at selecting.
The more many take to look at it, sitting at 7 is a really good place to be in the draft. |

I didn't mind him being picked just the round in which it happened - ob18
The fans "complaining" largely had the same issue. Had they picked him in round 5, or even traded into the 4th round to take him, not a problem. |

I get what you're saying but you also have to consider AMac going off the books and that if you don't make the move for Marner then the Devils will be running to the podium for him. - hereticpride
I don't want or need MacDonald off the books. I want him as part of this defense corps moving forward. Every team picking ahead of the Flyers is going to get a quality player. I'm not bothered by the Devils getting Marner. It's one player.

I'm kind of thinking now I go with 2 forwards since we really have nothing in the system that is top 6 worthy but maybe Aube-Kubel and/or Laughton - ob18
With all the needs the team has and the nature of prospects being unproven, I won't be pissed any which way they go - 1 of each, 2 of either.
Glad Hexy got a lot of picks, now we need to make them count. |

I like that thinking. Hopefully get Provorov and then maybe in the middle part land Meir or Svenchikov? - MatveiDmitrii
Yeah, that's exactly what I'm thinking. And my more popular idea it seems.
Go D at 7 and then move up to around 12 and get one of the high end forwards that are still on the board.
You come out of the 1st round with a guy to rival Sanhiem as our best D prospect and you get a guy that in all likelyhood brings the playmaking or sniping element that line two is currently devoid of. |

It is, it gives them a ton of options, and a lot of quality to choose from. |

I do like how he's played this year, so I do hope that carries over into the AHL/NHL |

What's your opinion on that Lindblom kid in Sweden? I haven't heard too much about him but what little I did hear has been mostly positive.

I wonder how far up we could move by trading the TB 1st and MacDonald?
If we trade the TB pick, MacDonald, and our 2nd? |

Some positives/some negatives.....expect another year in Sweden with increased ice time them to come over is my guess. |

To me it wouldn't, it's a solid draft, the prices go up. |

Might be able to package the Chicago 2nd rounder, maybe next year's 4th rounder, along with the TB pick to move into the mid teens, I'd be interested to come extent.
The thing is there's going to be a good player at the TB pick |

As good as this draft is expected to be, next year at this point is apparently better |

Kylington, Beauvilier, Svechnikov if he slips. Depending on how late the TB pick is, Mackenzie Blackwood would be a good pick. |

Especially all those uninformed clueless clowns that complained about the Gouldbourne pick. I will give anyone 20-1 odds that Gouldbourne has a better NHL career than Duclair. - PLindbergh31

Thanks. Everything I've heard seems to make him seem like a poor man's Simmonds with a little better D game.
