Barzal. Great playmaker. Can seem him getting pushed to wing, if needed. - Coleman
He's a pure C. If they draft him, it's more likely Laughton goes to wing and he and Couturier battle for 2C |

Agreed. Rantanen's size is tantalizing but Barzal seems more like a sleeper pick to me. Wouldn't be unhappy either as long as it's not Crouse - JakeTech19
Crouse, IMO, is not a terrible pick at 7. He's a bit of reach there, but not awful.
My top choices there are Barzal and Provorov. Rantanen is my 3rd choice. After that Werenski, Zacha, Meier, Crouse and Connor would all be decent picks at 7.
The only one of those I haven't watched more than a few times is Werenski. I've watched a lot of Barzal and I love his game. |

Listening to McLellan's phone interview on the NHL Network. He seems like a good thinker. He said he's picking his team not based on the roster, but on the people in the organization. He said he wants to judge an organization based on what people they have in what spots. He thinks that has more to do with a team's future success. |

I got to listen to most of his call. He sounded very intelligent and progressive, ideal for the Flyers moving forward |

Might as well interview him now even if Hextall is still developing the rest of his list |

Agreed. He's real cerebral, sounds like a guy who gets that process can be as important as results. |

All strong choices. I really do hope that they explore moving up with the 2nd pick though. I've got 13 or 14 very high end players in this draft. Would love to be able to move up to 12-14 and come out of this draft with two. |

From what he said, he's going to take a few days, get all the emotions sorted, then go Friday to coach the WC team for Canada, and then look for a new gig. |

Yeah there's a great bunch of guys between 12-20 who might be worth moving up, if the cost isn't too high. |

You act like Morrissey and Pulock are already in the NHL and excelling. They're not. Morin put up points at a higher rate than Morrissey this season in the CHL. - Feanor

First Morrissey is not in the NHL he is playing with Kelowna Rockets who are in the WHL Western Conference Final against Portland that begins on Friday.
And Pulock was just called up from the AHL but he's older than both. |

My problems with him are what some SJ fans have been saying. They say he has committed too hard to a dump and chase style, never stops juggling lines, and sometimes won't give young guns opportunities over veterans, even if the youth is playing better. |

Pulock is actually 9 months older than Morin. That's a little surprising to me. |

Oh I know! If Morin was selected by Winnipeg, and the Flyers selected Morrissey, it would be Morrissey wasn't a good pick.

I personally wouldn't put too much stock in what the SJ fans say. I personally think that McClellan has done an outstanding job laying a foundation, getting a team to play the right way, and positioning the team to succeed. When it comes down to playoff success, it's about players making key plays, scoring big goals, timely goaltending, etc. My personal opinion is that the Sharks lack of playoff success isn't on McClellan. I think he is a very bright coach, and I would love him as a coach for the Flyers. A plus is that his system and style of play is very similar to the system the Flyers used under Berube. The only caveat there is, he could teak or change that according to personnel if he would get the Flyers job.
