Yes there is, their career statistics.
Pro production is the bottom line and Perron hasn't gotten it done except that one year in Edmonton.
Stepan has averaged near a point per game in two of the last three seasons. - MidnightMarauder
Yes but you cannot just look at points to be able to gauge his style of play. Stepan is a more of playmaker, sand paper type of player while Perron is more of a sniper is what I am trying to get at. They're both good players at the end of the day; just was stating that with 5 seconds left on the game I'd rather have Perron taking that last shot than Stepan. However, that does not mean Stepan is not great at what he does in his own right. |

The point of it was to speak about their style of play. Perron plays a more heavy offensive style of play is what I am trying to say. There is no other ranking source to use for right now - Kittyblender1
Points per 60
Stepan - 2.67
Perron - 1.75 |

I think Crosby and Malkin will get their points. But the Rangers' depth is pretty superior, and the differences in D is scary. I don't know if he has to the MVP, but he's going to have to outduel Hank by a fair margin. - jmatchett383
Crosby and Malkin will always get their points. I'm talking about catching fire, like Malkin did against the Canes in 09, where he had 9 points in 3 games, or Crosby against Ottawa in 2010, where he put up 14 points in 5 games. They are both still capable of that. |

NO, the point of everything was talking about who has better forwards. Its completely irrelevant what "style of play" each player is. Style isn't production. Perron can be the greatest 1 on 1 dangling deking fancy puck handling player in the league, in the end he doesn't produce anywhere near what Stepan produces. Not to mention Perron does nothing to stop the other teams from scoring either. Perron has 41pts. in 81 games and Stepan has 55pts. in 68 games. Stepan is better than Perron in every aspect, unless you consider "entertaining to watch" a stat you follow. |

Mots (not all) of the non-Penguins fans on here are on here often. Myself, I'm married to a Penguins fan and have always liked them back to the Mario/Jagr days. They're my (far) second team after the Flyers. You know, it IS POSSIBLE for people to like more than one team and to have objectivity over blind faith. - jmatchett383
I agree with you, but since you are I Flyers fan I must hate you nonetheless... |

Ok, guarantee Perron outscores Stepan in both goals and in points this series. Put your money where your mouth is. I hope your team shares your attitude because if they do and underestimate the Pens they will been in for a wake up call. |

I don't gamble. But I'll take that gentlemans bet. I'm calling it now. Stepan will have AT LEAST double the amount of points that Perron has. Remind me how many playoff series has Perron played in? Just out of curiosity, how long have you been watching hockey? |

Not many, he played for a poor (yet up and coming Blues team) got to play with them for a little while they were getting good. And a bad Edmonton team. So by your argument Forsberg, Stone, and all the nasty rookies in the playoffs right now are going to suck because they have no playoff experience right? |

Okay? Perron played for the blues when they sucked d.ick and Edmonton? You must be suffer from mental retardation to just look at points. - Kittyblender1
Nice insult. That is goals per 60 and just from this season. If Perron was this great sniper you make him out to be he would've had no issue scoring in EDM. |

This. Pens can never be counted out off anything while they have Crosby and Malkin.
They are capable of taking over a series.
I still have the Rangers in 6. Logic says that. They have better depth and we have Scuderi as #3 D. But logic and playoffs don't always go hand in hand.
Should be a fun series. Good luck, less trolling.

He had 28 goals with them.. so this is awkward. Stepan has never reached that milestone in terms of goals |

I'd give Perron the slight edge. For how good Stepan has been, he hasn't been able to crack the 20 goal mark since his rookie season.
Not a knock on him, but i give Perron the edge in goal scoring. |

Perron lead that horrible Edmonton team in scoring last year. Same amount of points last year as Stepan, with 4 fewer games, on a garbage team. |

They certainly can win it. They'd definitely need some things to go in their favor, and a few key injuries to the Rags won't hurt. |

Perrone 129 goals in 499 games .26 goals per game
Stepan 89 goals in 362 games .25 goals per game
This is Perron's 9TH NHL season
This is Stepans 5TH NHL season
I still challenge your statement that Perron is even a superior goal scorer.
Like I said, you wanna talk entertaining and exciting to watch because he is offensively oriented and has better hands...great, enjoy watching him. I think Stepan is better in every way because he has superior positioning, superior hockey IQ which puts him in places to score. Give Stepan another 4 more years and lets compare his first 9 year production to Perron's 9 year production now. I'd be surprised if Stepan didn't double Perron's numbers. |

Stepan plays defense I'm not sure Perron has ever been in his own Dzone |

Perron plays with Crosby and Malkin now.. I do not see how you win that bet but okay. I do not care that much and you keep dragging this on. To say Stepan is better in every aspect is being naive.

Looking forward to the game tonight, but not very optimistic about the Penguins chances. Injuries have killed this team. Dupuis sucks, but three Top-4 Dmen (Maatta, Ehrhoff, & Letang) are tough pills to swallow. If healthy, this team would be an improvement over last season. As it is, they are far worse.
I think the Penguins have a chance, but will need to see some contribution from the role players – Perron, Hornquvist, Bennett, Comeau, Cole, & eventually maybe even Pouliot & Dumoulin. Guys are going to have to get a timely goal here or there & play a solid, 60-minute game. |
