Stop acting all offended. And feel free to use only 50% of the former recordmen if it suits your argument.
I do think that Plante's 42 wins AND 14 ties is more impressive than Price's record, which I think should be nuanced, not dismissed. - _nay_
I'm not offended
Just thought it's part of the equation. It was a different era back then, and Plante's era was also different from Dryden's. The game was different, you didn't had 30 teams, and the parity that the league has today, that's all.

Lets say they had an avg goalie as a starter like Tokarski (6-6-2). They'd be sitting between FLA and CBJ right now....11th - Pie
There aren't many teams that make the playoffs with an average goalie as a starter.
Maybe the Jets and Detroit... other than that?

it still took 40 years to break the record, that alone is impressive...

Gretzky's records should be nuanced because goalies used to suck.

this morning Conor McKenna said a great choice to replace Claude Julien is either Bruce Boudeau or Ken Hitchcock.
Price reminded him they're both coaching playoff teams that are a threat to go deep.
he said no they'll get bounced early and both coaches will be available.
