Oh wait, no, we can't, because Metallica unfortunately disappeared forever and dfeinitely didn't make any other albums (I'm glad they found that Death Magnetic recording and released it posthumously tho)

Am I crazy to think it's (frank)ed up to hope your team in any sport doesn't make the playoffs? If the Pens make it I'll be watching them the same as I would any other year. With a 100% belief they can win the cup. When that doesn't happen then I'll return to talking about how poopty they were
- dbell646

If it f*cked it, but I totally get where people are coming from who feel this way. It will take them missing the play-offs entirely to totally rethink the way the franchise is operating. It's flawed ... make that very flawed and its been this way for a few years now. Missing the playoffs might give them pause to rethink how this organization needs to run. Making the play-offs won't do that IMO.

That may be the case but as a fan I can't bring myself to being wishful my team loses. Guess I have a gamblers mentality all they need is a chip and a chair.

Pens are playing exactly like they are supposed to: A team who is missing 3 of their top 4 D, Dupuis and Downie.

That was what? The fourth game on the last 10 or 15 we had to play at least part of a game with 5D? A tired D corps with Scuderi and Lovejoy playing top pairing minutes is a recipe for disaster.

Also it's obvious Malkin isn't 100%.
Comeau isn't shooting nearly as much as he did before his injury.
Downie may be a lunatic but he is a good player when he decides to stick to hockey. When he doesn't play we are forced to play Adams.

This isn't a collapse. Go back to the california trip when we were healthy. Remember how we played? That's how we can play, but as stated by Ryan, for the pens to be a contender they need to be healthy, and they are far from it.

Go with the blockbuster trade:
Malkin + Perron +2nd or 3rd+4th for Max P + Galchenyuk + Gallagher

Or NHL 15 super blockbuster trade:
Malkin + Perrron + Sutter + mid round pick = Map P + Galchenyuk + Gallagher + offensive prospect/Weise + mid round pick

Perrons next deal will be around 5 million, so that's about 18 million in cap freed up. More than enough to cover the contracts coming back.

Pac 4yr 5m
Gallagher 6yr 3.75m
Galchenyuk probably around 4.5-5 for a long term deal
Weise 1yr 1m

That leaves us with about 3 million to do something with this off season, pair that with Scuds being bought out or traded then it's around 5-6.5m

Pacioretty-Crosby-Hornqvist
Kunitz-Galchenyuk-Gallagher
Weise-Winnik-Comeau (Dupuis?)
Depth FA's, Comeau? Spaling? Downie? Rust? Wilson? Sundqvist? Bennett? Kap?

We get younger around the boards, better top 6, better depth, more cap space. Also allows us to develop Kap and Sundqvist. I think one of those deals above would be a no brainer, as much as I love Geno.

I've come to accept it

y'know, via repressing all memories of it. Even that time I saw them play the song St. Anger in concert. Never happened.

The problem is that there aren't any quick fixes. 87 and 71 probably have about 5 more elite years. Given that we have drafted poorly and squandered any draft picks we could have had means help isnt coming. For the most part we have aging or grossly average wingers. I hate to be all doom and gloom but the optimism of 2009 is long gone. What you see is what you get.

Maiden will never disappoint. They should just take the money and send me tickets the second they announce a Philly show.

I'd only want the Pens to miss the postseason if I knew it meant they would be guaranteed to bring in a GM that has a system in place. Julien Brisebois would be an example. Otherwise, all that will happen is Rutherford, or another monkey, will be subjecting the team to randomness.

The next GM will more than likely be an in house guy, that's why they brought Ruth in short term.

yeah.

i see them any time possible. bruce was dealing with some sort of throat or mouth cancer last i heard, though.

last time i saw them was on the tour commemorating maiden england, i believe it was. saw them at the prudential center of all places.

the first time i saw them was when a matter of life and death came out and they played the whole album beginning to end. but even then, i respect them. they alternate tours, between new stuff and classics. and on the new stuff tours, they still always close with a block of old stuff. i like that they respect their fan base and dont try to hide the ball or purely pump ticket sales

Remove Perron for Sutter and I'd consider.

Probably. And we have no idea how effective they will be. Maybe they will be able to produce better than random, but I'm not all that comfortable taking that chance with proven decision makers out there.

I realize that's its coming from 93.7 the Fan, but evidently there are actually some rumblings of HCMJ being fired before the playoffs IF we do qualify. Worked for NJ in 2000 why not give it a whirl. Its pretty obvious that our coach doesn't mean much with this core group. We had HCMT and he got the boot and he is a fantastic coach, maybe this team doesn't need a great coach; just a fresh face when things start going south.

I like HCMJ ideals but he doesn't seem to have this teams attention. I would not be opposed to him being fired today.

Torts? He has a short life span, maybe the 23 or so games needed would be enough.

I dont know enough about Galchenyuk, tbh. I know he's supposed to be a good young center. Plus, havent all three had injury issues?
